  • 6 Dec 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me an opportunity to add my voice to this very important Motion by Hon. William. No one in this House or elsewhere cannot underscore the importance of trees in our lives. We need to support this Motion because for the longest time that I have been working around my constituency, I have come to realise that some of the rivers that were at one time very big are now very small streams. I remember, as small boys, we could go and swim in those rivers and do some fishing. We can no ... view
  • 6 Dec 2017 in National Assembly: I support the Hon. Member in this Motion so that we have a way of increasing trees in our institutions and even in our households so that we can conserve our environment more. We are about to form committees. Even our President, His Excellency Uhuru Kenyatta is about to constitute his Cabinet. I am looking forward to a time when the agencies that will be charged with ensuring that our environment is okay will institute mechanisms of ensuring that we have weeks of tree planting in this country. Those of us who are alumnus of Kenyatta University (KU) can remember ... view
  • 29 Nov 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me the opportunity to contribute to this Motion. First and foremost, I wish to congratulate His Excellency Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta and his deputy for being sworn in for a second term. I pledge support to them. We will support them to deliver on their mandate. Coming back to the Motion, I wish to thank the Mover, Hon. Melly for coming up with such a good idea. The value of life and properties cannot be underscored by anyone. I happen to have been under a situation that was very troubling. One ... view
  • 29 Nov 2017 in National Assembly: distance because of traffic. I fully support the idea of coming up with lanes that would allow fire engines and ambulances to use to save lives and property. It is important for the Mover of this Motion to think around the rules that should govern the usage of service lanes. Many times, we have seen people in this country bending traffic rules by overtaking anyhow and in many cases causing accidents. It is important, as we think about service lanes, we also think about the rules that should govern the usage of these lanes so that we make it a ... view
  • 8 Nov 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me the opportunity to contribute to this Motion. First of all, I request you to allow me to pass my condolences and those of the people of Runyenjes Constituency to the great people of Nyeri who have lost their governor. I know it is a very difficult time for them as a county. It is also a more difficult time for the family. I wish to assure them that we are with them in our prayers and in our thoughts. view
  • 8 Nov 2017 in National Assembly: It is common knowledge that the population in our urban centres continues to grow every day. The number of people coming to urban centres to look for jobs has continued to increase over time. So, it is very important for us to have a policy that will guide the planning of our urban centres. If you go around many urban centres in this country, you will realise that there is poor planning in a majority of them. In fact, service delivery to the residents in these urban centres has become very difficult. We have also witnessed in many centres, including ... view
  • 8 Nov 2017 in National Assembly: The adoption of this Motion will help this country to plan and achieve development. There is a very clear relationship between good planning and development. In poorly planned urban centres, we do not realise development. As we all know, the essence of devolution was to ensure we have development at the grassroots level. So, it is important for us to support this Motion so that also county governments can be proactive in ensuring the counties are properly planned to attract development and create more jobs for the many jobless youths. view
  • 8 Nov 2017 in National Assembly: Finally, the implementation of this policy is as important as its adoption. It is one thing to adopt here in Parliament and another to implement it. I appeal to the people who will be in charge of implementing it to do it well to ensure that it falls into place. view
