  • 8 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you so much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me an opportunity to add my voice to this very good Motion by Hon. Jessica Mbalu. In the recent past, we have seen in the media, in the newspapers and in WhatsApp groups, instances of women beating up men and men beating up women. I would say that violence anywhere against women hinders their progress. Violence anywhere against men too hinders their progress. I wish to support this idea of having post-trauma care facilities in every constituency in the Republic of Kenya so that those affected can get an opportunity ... view
  • 27 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker, for giving me an opportunity to add my voice to this Motion. I want to begin by thanking Hon. Osotsi for coming up with this Motion. It is a very timely idea. It is coming at a time when the world is watching the greatest show in the world, namely, the World Cup. It is a fact that sports have very many social and economic benefits. Kenya takes pride in being one of the best countries in the world because we have very many athletes coming from this country who go out there and compete ... view
  • 20 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you so much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me a chance to contribute on Tax Laws (Amendment) Bill of 2018. Let me start by saying that I am very impressed with the idea of imposing more tax on gambling because it is a fact that so many of our young people are lost in gambling. Unlike in other countries where gambling is done in regulated environments, almost everybody in this country can gamble. The experience that I have seen in my constituency every time I go round is that so many people especially the young are now not ... view
  • 20 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: the idea from one Hon. Millie Odhiambo who has indicated that so many people have gone into gambling because of lack of jobs. From where I sit, I have seen so many people especially the young who are getting so interested in these gaming things. Taxing more on these gambling will also enable Government to get more money to finance the Big Four Agenda and the development agenda in this country. Finally, it is also very important that we think about the corruption levels in this country. It has been said before that a lot of money–almost a third of ... view
  • 14 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you so much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me an opportunity to add my voice to this good Motion. I also thank the Member for Nyali, Hon. Mohammed Ali, for this very good Motion. I thank him for his very fluent Kiswahili that has inspired so many other Members to speak in Kiswahili. Healthcare is a very important issue in this country. I am certain that if we were given an opportunity to choose between being healthy and being wealthy, all of us would choose to be healthy. The reason as to why so many Kenyans are flocking ... view
  • 14 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: two weeks is not good enough time to determine or gauge the performance of a CS. Therefore, those pursuing her impeachment should abandon that move and allow her perform her duties and rescue the many Kenyans who are seeking services at KNH. Those of us wo have had time to go to that hospital can agree with me that we have many people who have been at that hospital for many months, but who have not got the services they are looking for. Therefore, it is good that we do not politicise this matter so that we do not bring ... view
  • 14 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you so much, Hon. Speaker, for giving me an opportunity to add my voice to this Motion. I wish to start by thanking His Excellency the President and the Right Hon. Raila Odinga for the historic handshake. It has solved so many problems in this country. For a long time, we have witnessed a lot of division in this country and it has been the desire of Kenyans to see it come to an end. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposes only. Acertified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard ... view
  • 14 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: When I heard about the handshake, I was in Runyenjes Constituency and my interaction with the people of Runyenjes indicated that they have been waiting for the leaders, His Excellency the President and the Right Hon. Raila Odinga, to meet and dialogue about the issues that affect this country. So, I believe they mean well for Kenya and it is now for us leaders to support that move so that we can move together as a country. We want a country where a fisherman on the shores of Lake Victoria feels Kenyan the same way another person from any other ... view
  • 28 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me the opportunity to add my voice in support of this Special Motion on approval of appointment of PS, Mr. Charles Hinga Mwaura nominee to the State Department for Housing and Urban Development. Amongst the pillars that guide the Jubilee Government is housing. So, we have an opportunity to support this Motion so that we can have a PS in charge so that he can fast-track this agenda. What we note is that Mr. Charles has a wealth of experience and knowledge. He is well educated. There is no doubt that he ... view
  • 14 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker, for giving me an opportunity to comment on this issue regarding the petition. It is true that the petitioners are from my constituency. Indeed, Kieni Farmers Co-operative Society is well known to me. I wish to confess that the said petitioners sought help from my office and I referred them to the county government but they were not helped. They came here because they thought that the Department Committee on Trade, Industry and Co-operatives can handle their matter better than the county government. I support your direction that the matter should be heard by the Departmental ... view
