  • 29 Jun 2021 in National Assembly: We talked of 2017 to 2022. I sincerely hope we can do something about the level of education we have. We have seen how county assemblies behave. How they throw chairs and tables around and how debates end up in boxing matches. If one is educated, one gets a certain sense of etiquette because it is part of the education. It is important that we support what we ourselves have said we stand for. If they do not have degrees, that is too bad and they can try in 2027. view

  • 19 May 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. Taking off from where the Leader of the Majority Party has ended, we have to remember that KQ is our pride. We know that it has a lot of challenges. Over the years, we have bailed it out not once, but many times. We will probably continue to do so. We are still in a pandemic and airlines have been hit very hard. I was actually very proud of our national carrier during the pandemic because they turned their passenger aircraft into cargo aircraft and helped quite a number of our farmers to get ... view
  • 19 May 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I stand here as a duly elected women’s leader. I am proud of the fact that one of the arms of Government, the Judiciary will soon be headed by a woman. It is no mean feat and at the end of the day we have strived as women to get our space in society, politics and private practice. When you look at us you cannot deny the fact that we are women and want to have our space because we are 50 per cent of the population. view
  • 19 May 2021 in National Assembly: Lady Justice Martha Koome is a woman; let us not shy away from embracing her as a woman because today we are proud to have her as a nominee for the position of Chief Justice. I say this because I have seen many men when speaking they have been saying she is just a good leader. Yes, she is an amazing leader. We cannot stop underlining the fact that she is a woman and we have to celebrate this, not just for her but for the many women in this country, the girl- child and women who aspire to be ... view
  • 19 May 2021 in National Assembly: What I like about Martha Koome because I have been to a few of the forums she held when she was heading the taskforce for children is the fact that she is very humble. She has integrity, is grounded and compassionate. I recall an interview where she said: “Children have no voices, so I choose to speak for them. They are our bridge to the future and unless we nurture them, our future will be precarious’’. We will have a Chief Justice who understands that if we want to steer this country in the right direction, then we have to ... view

(b) in the proposed paragraph (b) (ii)— (i) by deleting the words “five million” and substituting therefor the words “five hundred thousand”; and (ii) by deleting the words “five years” and substituting therefor the words “two years.” I support the ... view
  • 19 May 2021 in National Assembly: I withdraw the amendments I sought in clause 3 because the Committee has very ably covered the same. view
  • 19 May 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. Yes, I had an amendment which I do seek to withdraw. My concern at that particular time was for cancer survivors who use certain psychotropic drugs for pain relief, and I was assured by the Committee that, that has also been covered within the Bill for medicinal purposes. So, I wish to withdraw my proposed amendment. Thank you. view
