  • 24 Apr 2008 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. Is the Assistant Minister in order to mislead this House by saying that the fertiliser the Government committed itself to deliver was for planting, which is DAP and not the CAN for top-dressing? You can only top-dress what you have planted! view
  • 24 Apr 2008 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. I beg to support the Motion. May I say that the Minister has done a good job in not only satisfying the legal requirements in the appointment of the Board, but as I can see from the list, there is gender and regional balance. All the requirements of the law have been satisfied. It is, indeed, a great development in our country to have this opportunity for the House to not only scrutinize the appointments, but also to approve them. Indeed, it is something that we hope, with the completion of the constitutional ... view
  • 23 Apr 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I wish to support the Motion by my friend. All these 16,000 were members of two farms called Gituamba and Kalaa who were attacked, butchered and their properties burnt and are now refugees in their own ... view
  • 16 Apr 2008 in National Assembly: Thank you, Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker. I rise to support the Accountants Bill. Let me take this opportunity to congratulate the Minister for Finance for bringing this Bill which was long overdue. Let me also take this opportunity to congratulate the Minister on his reappointment and all members of the new Cabinet on their appointments. At least, this country can now move forward to address vital matters of national importance that have been put on the April 16, 2008 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES 499 backburner following the tussle that was there. Some of those issues cannot wait. These are issues touching on ... view
  • 12 Mar 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, may I also take this opportunity to thank the good people of Saboti for giving me the opportunity to serve and represent them in this Tenth Parliament, and to be part of this historic moment. Indeed, I wish to share the sentiments expressed by previous hon. Members that this is a historic moment. In supporting this Motion, I wish to say that, indeed, it is a historic moment. We have a big challenge as hon. Members of the Tenth Parliament. What the President said in his Speech captured the mood and the new spirit in ... view
