  • 14 Mar 2019 in Senate: In some communities whenever a child is born with disability, he or she is discriminated. Sometimes it is associated with a curse. However, we thank God that because of education, many people are more informed. If we allow disabled people to be included in everything, the society will let go some barbaric beliefs. I do not have a better word for it, because of the magnitude of the issues. Therefore, because now there are such inclusions in schools, even people who come from such communities with very bad beliefs will be better informed that these are human beings like the ... view
  • 14 Mar 2019 in Senate: Madam Temporary Speaker, we should pass this Motion because it creates the background and the environment that is so enabling, inclusive, and that will make a difference to a whole society. It is my belief that the people who are living with disability should actually form their own constituency and elect Sen. (Dr.) Musuruve as their Member of Parliament (MP). You know why? She constantly keeps this House to never forget that people with disability are here to be represented and are here fully. view
  • 14 Mar 2019 in Senate: As Senators, who are specially elected, we also represent them. That is why you can see in this House, there are only women left to discuss this issue. When people call us slay queens and that we came here the wrong way, I think they should come to this House because they will be informed differently because we speak to the issues that affect our society. In the same breath, marginalised people or people who are discriminated; the other time there was a court ruling regarding hijab. There are a couple of schools, students have been sent home because of ... view
  • 14 Mar 2019 in Senate: no way we can just ignore a whole constituent of people who need to be addressed through different approaches in terms we how--- we only do it slightly different, but inclusion is a must; we do not have a choice. This is because the Constitution of this country never gave us this choice. Madam Temporary Speaker, I support the Motion. view
  • 13 Mar 2019 in Senate: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. Is the Senator for Makueni in order to say that there is a Jubilee governor who is supplying the medicine? Given that there are 29 Jubilee governors in the country, are all of them guilty? If it is one, then name him. view
  • 13 Mar 2019 in Senate: They are 27; my apologies. I am talking about the Jubilee governors. view

  • 13 Mar 2019 in Senate: I would also like to thank Sen. M. Kajwang for also suggesting some amendments in terms of the parent Act for the House, which is the Statutory Instruments Bill of 2013. He has proposed that it be amended so that if there is a procedural issue regarding mediation, then this House brings a solution to that stalemate. I would also like to thank Sen. Halake who also talked about timelines in terms of the short timeline needed for the turn-around of executing this Bill. I also thank Sen. (Dr.) Musuruve for contributing; I really appreciate her contribution. Madam Temporary Speaker, ... view
  • 13 Mar 2019 in Senate: Madam Temporary Speaker, given the great passion and the level of knowledge in terms of this issue, and considering how weighty it is, it has been canvased very well by different Senators. Therefore, not only should we expedite its passing, but I want to be on record in this House as requesting our sister House not to delay it. It is a timely Bill. It is an idea whose time has come. It is something that will make a difference, not only for the Committees on Delegated Legislation in the county assemblies, but also in terms of the executives, to ... view
