• 29 Sep 2021 in Senate: Madam Deputy Speaker, the SBC has come up with a brilliant idea in terms of Bills and everything. I agree with Sen. (Dr.) Zani that we should take work more seriously, so that we expedite passing of most of the Bills in order to make a difference in this country. view
• 29 Sep 2021 in Senate: Another issue is reconstitution of Committees. This should be postponed to tomorrow or next week, so that we have an opportunity to add the new Senator who has just joined us because reconstituting a Committee takes a long time. For, example, Sen. Abdul Haji is not in any committee, yet he was sworn in a long time ago. To avoid the same mistake, I think one day will not make a difference. It is my request to the House that we postpone. view

In future, let us give a Statement to one Committee; let us not have joint committees. I do not know what finally happened but what I know for sure is that we tried to sit twice but there was no quorum for both of them at the same time. There were many challenges around that. • 28 Sep 2021 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Deputy Speaker. Last week, we discussed the issue of the Committee on Devolution and Intergovernmental Relations having a problem. The fact is that the Chair admitted that there is need to reconstitute that Committee. view
• 28 Sep 2021 in Senate: I am a Member of the Committee on Finance and Budget. On both occasions that we met, we had quorum. The Committee on Devolution and Intergovernmental Relations, as the Chairperson rightfully cited, has a challenge and he needs the Committee reconstituted so that he can have good people who are willing to work with him and provide quorum. view

• 28 Sep 2021 in Senate: This equalization fund should have started in 2010 once the Constitution was passed. It is 11 years late. Can you imagine that somebody who the Constitution had recognized had a problem and his problem has not been solved 11 years later? As a House, we need to be conscious of that fact and the fact that there are people who have not been paid since 2018. As you are very much aware, capital does not come for free. view
