  • 10 Mar 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I rise to support this Bill. First, I want to thank the Mover, Hon. Jude Njomo. It is in public domain that Kenyans are being exploited by banks. All of us in this House, from both sides are in agreement that we need to do something so that interest rates can be controlled. Before, the petroleum industry was exploiting Kenyans by increasing pump prices any day they thought it necessary. But when the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) started regulating the pump prices, it has succeeded in controlling prices of petroleum. Petroleum companies have become ... view
  • 10 Mar 2016 in National Assembly: A few months ago when interest rates had gone out of control in the country, many people lost their property. In one of my bank statements, I saw a figure of over Kshs100, 000. I did not know where it had come from. Many Kenyans do not understand the financial systems in the country and they need to be saved by this Parliament. As far as I am concerned, there is no offence in controlling something that everybody believes is not going in the right direction. Banks in this country have become like a cartel operating interest rates. Initially, when ... view
  • 24 Jun 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I rise to support the Bill. I also want to commend Hon. Sakaja for bringing this Bill, which is timely considering that just a few days ago, the NYS was devolved to some of our constituencies. We have seen the excitement down there with the youths getting employment. The youths in this country have been waiting for a long time to get a chance to enjoy the national cake. Through this Bill, they will get a fair chance to present their CVs after graduation. I am happy that this Bill considers all the youths ... view

  • 3 Jan 2013 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. First, I want to commend the Minister for such a good Statement on the Visa Oshwal Primary School. The correct position on the ground is that the school has been closed using a very big chain yet Monday will be school opening day. Could the Minister ask the Nairobi Provincial Police Officer to order the people who have closed the gate to open it for the pupils on Monday? view
  • 3 Jan 2013 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, first, I want to thank the Minister for making it very clear that the Commission on Administrative Justice has no powers whatsoever to recommend that Mr. Sonko and I should be barred from contesting. My only question is this: Could the Minister order the Commission to publish on the daily newspapers and all the media houses that what they did was wrong so that they can put the records straight? Right now, some of the voters in Nairobi are actually confused and are in doubt on whether we are going to contest the seats that we want ... view
  • 3 Jan 2013 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. For future consideration, we were not summoned at all by the Commission on Administrative Justice. Could the Minister investigate this commission and find out whether it is operating as per the law? You cannot convict anybody without hearing their side of the story? view
  • 4 Dec 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I rise to support the amendment. It is true that the issuance of ID cards has been riddled with irregularities. Right now, if you go to Kayole DO’s office, you will find cartons full of ID cards. Nobody knows who the owners are. Probably, the owners of those ID cards are out there with waiting cards. Those Kenyans have a right to vote. We realize that this is a problem affecting so many people. Therefore, it is only noble that we support this amendment, so that everybody could vote as guaranteed in the Constitution. So ... view
  • 4 Dec 2012 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. I just wanted to add a rider to what the Minister has said. view
  • 27 Nov 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, it is true that the roads in Tassia are impassable and Tassia Estate is not a new estate. For the Assistant Minister to purport that he is not aware that the roads are impassable is displaying some sort of ignorance that should not be allowed. Could the Assistant Minister commit some funds to these roads immediately? view
