  • 24 Mar 2015 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Speaker, I wonder whether we are looking at the human aspect. Sometimes people who cannot play football kick others outside the pitch. What we should look at are the circumstances in which the Speaker utters whatever he is being accused of uttering. Sometimes there are circumstances in which some of us can do bad things. Looking at the benefits that he has brought to this House, I wonder about human nature. Just the other day, we were pushed to a corner by the Senate; we were so desperate. The Speaker defended us against the Senate and the Cabinet ... view
  • 18 Mar 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I am being threatened by hon. Gikaria that I will be in trouble, but I think I will not. view
  • 18 Mar 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I do not want to take a lot of time. I would like to inform this House that statistics that are as recent as 2014 should make us support this Motion. You remember in May 2014, we lost five people in Naivasha at a place called Flyover. Six deaths were reported in Machakos and Makueni while 80 deaths were reported in Embu, Makueni, Kitui, Kiambu and Murang’a. That was just last year. We give a lot of money to NACADA. They should use this money during school holidays. In every constituency, they must be ... view
  • 18 Mar 2015 in National Assembly: ground to ensure that we do not lose a generation. This country must not work and tax people and then lose the said earned revenue in trying to make people good, or even on matters of health and security. Every family in Kenya is affected by alcohol. We are all affected. I expect this House to play its representative role effectively and help drunkards to reform. Every household in Kenya is either affected by drugs or alcohol; this is especially so in the Mount Kenya and Coast regions. All of us are part of this country. This is the time ... view
  • 25 Feb 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I rise to support this particular Motion, noting that there were serious massacres that occurred in this country. These massacres were in Lari, Chuka, Hola and many other places and that is a clear indication that this was not only in central Kenya. I also note that it has been put into record that veterans like Dedan Kimathi, Musa Mwariama, Waruhiu Itote and Mathenge wa Mirugi are people who suffered and are known to have done that. In fact, record has it that between 12,000 and 20,000 Kenyans were killed and many others captured. ... view
  • 25 Feb 2015 in National Assembly: We should compensate everybody and this country will heal abundantly. It is in this respect that I support this Motion. Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. view
  • 18 Feb 2015 in National Assembly: I support this amendment and ask the Mover whether he could consider including Members of County Assembly (MCAs) so as to deal with the confusion of the reference Mheshimiwa. We should refer to them as Members of the County Assemblies. That is my suggestion. The penalty given is quite good but I would like the Mover to think of a name for the MCAs. Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. view
  • 17 Feb 2015 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I beg to give notice of the following Motion;- THAT, aware that there has been an increase of alcohol use and abuse in Kenya especially in urban areas; further aware that over 2.2 million Kenyans are addicted to alcohol; noting that improper disposal of alcoholic containers has been on the rise leading to unintended exposure and use of containers for vending illicit brews, especially to school-going children; deeply concerned that this is both an environmental and a health risk; this House urges the Government, in conjunction with all relevant authorities, particularly the NACADA, to institute and ensure proper ... view

  • 11 Feb 2015 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, in view of your guidance and taking into account that this is a new year - how we ended the other year was bad - the public opinion outside there is that we should have value for time. I propose that there is no need of debating so much. We always move from the known to the unknown. In this particular case, you have taken us through the known. We will move to the future and then the unknown will be unearthed. I will request you to call the Mover to reply and we move on. view
