This has really been a major concern to many Kenyans who have acquired this disease through their lifestyle and they cannot afford to pay for it. Is the Assistant Minister aware that most of the kits used to treat these patients attract Value Added Tax (VAT)? What will the Ministry do so that the kits can be categorized as non-pharmaceutical products? view

  • 26 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker. You have heard the Minister say that they are doing procurement. I wish he could have gone to the KNH and seen the desperate Kenyans who are waiting for over 30 days to be attended to. Could the Minister tell this House when he will do the procurement so that Kenyans can access this needful treatment? view

Why should he avoid answering the question? view

(a) Why has the Government not enforced the implementation of the Interconnection rates recommended by the Communications Commission of Kenya (CCK) that was to take effect from July 1, 2010? (b) What steps is the Minister taking to ensure that the recommendation by the CCK is enforced? view
  • 19 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, the greatest blessings that this country has ever received was in this small garget called the mobile telephone. If you go to our villages today, you will find that most of our people in there have the garget. However, it has become a curse to many poor people in this country. You heard the Minister saying that as from 1st July, 2010, Determination No.2 of 2010 was meant to be effective. However, if you go through the answer that the Minister has given, you will see that he has gone through this issue in stages. I would ... view
  • 19 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, could the Minister tell the House--- At this juncture the rates are being lowered yet when we want to connect from Safaricom to Zain, you will find that the poor man cannot afford it because the interconnection rates are very high, and the other operator does not benefit from the interconnection rates. If the interconnection rates are not lowered to the level the Minister has indicated of 0.99 cents not many Kenyans will afford them. view
