Commission, the police officers are represented there. The TSC is the only Commission under the sun that is taking charge of a professional body and dealing with professional people and those very people are not represented at all. I think it is a matter we need to begin taking seriously as a House and, if there is need for an amendment, we do it.

Hon. Speaker, based on the direction you will give… I know I was being limited but I have never seen a request for statement or request for information from a ministry coming to this House treated this casually. Whatever directions are given, I am already being moved by the teachers on whose behalf I moved this petition to bring a petition for the removal of all commissioners at TSC, including the CEO. Hon. Members, when we present this petition, I request for your support so that we can stop this situation where a commission thinks that they own the people ...

I thank you, Hon. Speaker. The Chair of the Committee did not give me a copy of the statement before he read it. This is a very serious matter. You heard when I raised the issue, he indicated that in some of them, even with the limitations of procedures under request for statements, there can be a bit of comments from the Members. I wanted to request that I be allowed, like my other colleagues, to read this statement. As I did say when I sought response, some of the teachers affected here have since died—up to about three of ...

there are issues, I raise them having duly perused the Statement. If only you would permit, Hon. Speaker. This is a very serious matter. There are constitutional issues. There are also legal issues. There are matters which directly affect a sector which is very crucial to the economy, mostly at this time. I indicated to the Chair and members of the Committee that depending on the response coming from the TSC, other sanctions may follow if the matter is not being treated seriously. It is a matter over which we have to alert and caution that given a chance, we ...

Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I have two issues to raise. Six weeks ago, I raised an issue concerning interdiction of a number of teachers across the country for heading the call by their trade unions to participate in industrial action. If you may remember, the Committee Chairperson was given two weeks to respond. He came here and said that a response came from the Ministry, but it was inadequate. Again, they undertook that within two weeks, they will get an adequate response. To date, there is no response from the Committee Chairperson on that request for a Statement. It is ...

A ranking Member, Hon. Odanga, is telling us the same thing that the Chair of the Committee said a month ago. It appears that this Committee routinely requests for two weeks. Could we be assured that this time round, it will be available within two weeks? Hon. Speaker, we do not ask these Questions for ourselves. We ask them for the interest of the entire nation. It beats the purpose of seeking Parliamentary intervention through Questions if they take eternity to respond to them. Could the Hon. Speaker give a shorter period or have a firm direction that within the ...
