  • 15 Oct 2020 in National Assembly: Teachers being transferred cut across the country. All constituencies are affected by random transfer of teachers. When I look at it, if a teacher, a head teacher or a principal has performed well in a given school, what makes the TSC to transfer that teacher? It is just like a doctor. If a patient responds to a certain medication, should you change the hospital or the doctor? It does not make sense. This thing must stop. view
  • 15 Oct 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I note with appreciation that the overall goal of the policy is to achieve gender equality by creating a just society where women, men, boys and girls have equal access to opportunities in the political, economic, cultural and social spheres of life. The policy currently before the House builds on the National Policy on Gender and Development 2000, which provided a legitimate point of reference for addressing gender inequalities at all levels of Government and by all stakeholders. It provided an avenue for gender mainstreaming across all sectors in order to generate a vision ... view
  • 15 Oct 2020 in National Assembly: different categories of women and men. The policy further identifies the criteria for equality as follows: (i) Equality of treatment and freedom from discrimination as provided for under Article 27 of the Constitution. (ii) Equality in the political, social, economic and cultural development spheres for women and men. (iii) Respect for the human rights of women, men, boys and girls. (iv) Respect for provision on equality in the Bill of Rights, civil and administrative justice, judicial procedures and customary, cultural and religious practices. (v) Enforcement of statutory religious customary laws with the framework of this policy and constitutional changes. (vi) ... view
  • 26 Feb 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to also add my voice on the sensitive issue that touches on the youth of this great nation. The National Youth Council (Amendment) Bill, 2019 has come at the right time when all of us are structuring the country towards the next level of new governance. Without structured mechanisms, youth will not be able to participate in meaningful development agenda in this country. I must say that the institution has largely remained ineffective in spite of its roles being clearly spelt out and anchored in the National Youth Council ... view
  • 26 Feb 2020 in National Assembly: Bomet County, any constituency distributing money from the youth fund to youth groups. It is so worrying to figure out where this money goes because we allocate and we do not see it. It is in the interest of the country to consider the innovativeness and creativity of the youth. They need to start being equipped with entrepreneurial skills. It is so important that we make this National Youth Council active so that all of us can see the fruits of our youth in this country. I look at the rallies that we normally do. If you want to see ... view
  • 10 Feb 2020 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I stand here this afternoon on behalf of the people of Chepalungu Constituency, My family and Kenyans at large to pass my condelences to the family. When I was young, when I heard about Moi, I used to think that he is a machine, an earth mover machine. However, later on I came to know that Moi was the President. I used to think that the name Moi cuts across Africa for presidents; I would wonder who Moi was for Uganda and Nigeria. Moi has left a big legacy in this county. He is no longer with us ... view
  • 13 Nov 2019 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I want to thank you for giving me an opportunity to also add my voice to the Equalization Fund Bill. When I look at this Fund, I still have a lot of questions in my mind on how the selection was done on the areas to benefit from this kitty. The key indicator is water. For example, my constituency is sandwiched by two constituencies. That is Emurua Dikirr and Narok West. We share the same climate with those two constituencies. We do not have water. If it is about water, I do not have it. If ... view
  • 16 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I thank Hon. Bashir for donating two minutes to me. view
  • 16 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: At the outset, livestock is the most valuable asset of many households in Kenya, especially in the constituency I represent. There is little attention from the Government to all livestock farmers in the country. It is high time the Government injected a substantial amount of money to the livestock sector because it is the livelihood of Kenyans and it helps in economic empowerment in the country. view
  • 16 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: Eighty per cent of our population consumes meat and there is no better delicacy in Kenya than nyama choma or roast meat. It is very important that the Bill sails through. I thank Hon. Bashir for coming up with this Bill. view
