However, it has been on the drawing board since Independence. Could the Assistant Minister ensure that consultations are done with the community before this road is designed? The original road passes through the Mara Game Reserve. This will destroy the wildlife in that part of the park, which is, indeed, a tourist attraction, and also the forest. The value of the KRC land is over Kshs6 billion. The Rift Valley Railways is simply using its position to acquire that land, so that it can sell it and make money to sort out its problems elsewhere. • 13 Nov 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, matatus are still a nuisance on our roads as they block the flow of traffic and cause unnecessary jams. There are other problems which are cropping up. Breakdown service vehicles are parked at roundabouts at night. Indeed, they cause a lot of accidents. For example, at the Westlands Roundabout, an on-coming driver cannot see a vehicle parked at the roundabout.
