Indeed, these are serious issues which have been raised in the documents, and because the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Local Government has agreed with the hon. Members’ proposal, I order that the matter be referred to the Departmental Committee on Local Authorities for it to investigate and report back to the House within three months. If the Committee completes the investigations before the three months are over, the Clerk’s Office can be informed and the issue brought forward. Let the Committee investigate the matter and report to the House within three months. view
