  • 18 Aug 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. The Chairman of the Departmental Committee on Finance, Planning and Trade is asking me to be very brief. Probably he wants to reply before we finish. I think it is a reasonable request and I will try to be as brief as possible. I support the Finance Bill, and particularly the exemption of tax for aircraft parts. We have seen what is happening to our national carrier. The most efficient and quickest transport system that we have in this country is quite expensive. I hope that with the exemption of aircraft parts we will ... view
  • 18 Aug 2015 in National Assembly: find projects where compensation is more than the actual cost of the project. We want our people to be compensated but when cartels set in, they make compensation go up. On wayleaves, people want power and high compensation. This compensation should be at fair rates and should not be taxed to avoid extortion from our public resources. Finally, because I would like to save a bit of time, I cannot sit down without commenting on the issue of increasing core capital for banks. It has been said but it cannot be said enough. We have seen our banks, even the ... view
  • 8 Jul 2015 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. Is Hon. Johnson Sakaja who is also the Chairperson of TNA in order to urge us to copy the example of Jubilee of bringing all parties into one so that we have a national representation yet we know that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) as a party has representation from Vanga to Nyatike, from North Horr to Kakamega and from every corner of this country? ODM is the single largest party in this country. view
  • 8 Jul 2015 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, forming a conglomeration of parties to have a political face is not the solution. view
  • 8 Jul 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. Within this one minute of mine, I just want to make one simple point. The point that has come out clearly over and over again is that there is a weak leadership being provided by Prof. Kaimenyi in the education sector. This weak leadership has been demonstrated. Almost three-quarters of the Members of the Departmental Committee on Education, Research and Technology Committee have signed this petition. Also, 94 Members of this National Assembly have signed this petition. The teaching fraternity is up in arms asking us to talk to Prof. Kaimenyi and send him home. When ... view
  • 7 Jul 2015 in National Assembly: On a point of order, hon. Speaker. I was wondering whether it is in order for the Leader of the Majority Party to say that it is only in this country where people escort thieves, yet we know that people go to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Corruption (EACC) to respond to allegations of corruption. As at that point, they have not been declared thieves. They are innocent until proven guilty. view
  • 7 Jul 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. Alcohol is a national problem. view
  • 7 Jul 2015 in National Assembly: In these last four days, we have lost a young man to illicit brew in Homa Bay County. He is the grandson of Oworo Ngaro in Ndiru Kagan somewhere in Rangwe. view
  • 7 Jul 2015 in National Assembly: So, I want to thank my colleagues from central Kenya for bringing the impetus that they brought to this fight and for putting their own lives on the line. As I saw some of you pouring alcohol out there, I knew that some people can even come after you for your own lives on this matter of alcoholism. I thank you very much for moving that forward. The point I want to make that is very important is that as we make this very good fight and move it forward to save the lives of our young people, let us ... view
  • 30 Apr 2015 in National Assembly: On a point of order, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. Hon. Kangongo has now finished, but I was wondering whether the Hon. Member for Belgut is in order to say that in this country thieves are punished yet we know that it is small thieves who are punished while big thieves are celebrated and rewarded.
