  • 1 Apr 2014 in National Assembly: Then we say that we want 5000 megawatts when our grid is only 1500 megawatts. How are we going to get to 5000 megawatts? Even the projections speak about us getting to 5000 megawatts by geothermal, by the year 2030. I hope the speech writer has been fired by now. view

  • 26 Mar 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Deputy Speaker. I must say that I am happy with enforcement of our anti-gay laws. We also do know that HIV infection is highest among the group of men who have sex with men. According to a Kenya HIV/AIDS survey, actually the highest rate of new infections is in this group of men who have sex with men. I want to throw in a word of caution; these men who have sex with other men have families. Actually, during the day, they have their men, including some found where we walk. These are men in suits and ... view

  • 25 Mar 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to contribute to this Bill. We spoke at length on the Report of the Budget and Appropriations Committee on the Supplementary Estimates. There are issues that we raised at that stage and we hope they will go a long way in assisting our people. I want to, particularly, raise an issue on the Gender Commission where Kshs.40 million was taken that was already spent. I hope the Budget and Appropriations Committee will find a way of rectifying that because we did not succeed in the amendment. Hon. Mbadi is also whispering ... view
  • 25 Mar 2014 in National Assembly: people. Yes, I am back from New York, but when I was listening to my local radio station, that is what I was hearing that the SRC has such a tag line that states: “Your salary is my burden.” There must be a holistic approach. Hon. Speaker, we must seal the leakages. This is why I support the idea of the audit. The audit must show us where the leakages are. We must also note as a House the propaganda that this Legislature is the cause for the high wage bill and begin cannibalizing ourselves. It is shocking to learn ... view
  • 25 Mar 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, if I was coming from where my friend, hon. Musyoka comes from, I would have said, a whole Chairman of the Finance, Planning and Trade Committee. Anyway, this House works very hard. It is worth noting that we have so much work. We know that the other House has even reduced time. They said that they will not be meeting on Wednesday morning. We meet on Tuesday afternoon, Wednesday morning, Wednesday afternoon and Thursday afternoon. We sit here, in Committees and when we are not sitting in Committees, we are in our constituencies. Therefore, this idea of cannibalizing ... view
