The Select Committee on Delegated Legislation is established pursuant to the provisions of Standing Order No.210 with the power to scrutinise all statutory instruments that are submitted to the House to ensure that they are within the Constitution and comply with all applicable laws. You may also recall that the Committee also identified that there was need to amend some of the statutory instruments, including the need to provide for the extension of time for consideration in order that we may comprehensively deliberate and uphold them since many of them had been a subject of litigation before our courts.
