Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity. I would like to thank the Committee for coming up with a comprehensive Report. Members can only be effective if our working environment is conducive. The Report has touched on all the important areas where we need facilities for us to be effective in our primary responsibility of being legislators. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposes only. Acertified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor.

One of the key issues which should be of concern to all of us is the way facilities in Parliament are not conducive for Members living with disabilities, as well as members of the public who would like to participate in the proceedings of the Committees of the House. It is very shameful. Parliament should be the first institution to comply with the provisions of the Disability Act because it makes laws. Therefore, it has the obligation to comply with the laws we have made. I would like to talk about the conditions in our offices, specifically in Continental House, ...

As I conclude, I would like to appreciate the good work that the Committee has done. I urge them that once this Report is adopted by the House, they move very fast, with facilitation of the PSC, to implement the recommendations. I have had time to look at all the recommendations. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposes only. Acertified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor.

Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to speak to this important Motion. I would like to start by thanking Hon. Jessica Mbalu for bringing this Motion to the House for debate. I support it. Gender-based violation is a very serious human rights issue. It is also a very big social problem. There is an upsurge of gender-based violations in this country. Of course, when we talk of gender-based violations, it is not only women who are normally targeted. In as much as most of the victims are women and children, we also have ...

School transport plays a very key role in the lives of our children while they are in school. I am sure most of us are parents. We also lead those who have children in school. We need to take safety of school children seriously. The Traffic Act of 2016 requires all school buses to be painted yellow. The purpose of painting them yellow is for vehicles providing school transport to be monitored easily. Of course, not all the schools have adhered to this requirement. I am aware that some people who provide school transport have gone to court. I feel ...

Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I support the adoption of this Report. I am a Member of the Departmental Committee on Environment and Natural Resources. As indicated by the other Members who have contributed, we were actually moved by what is happening in the country where a lot of logging is taking place in public forests, Government forests as well community forests. Logging has been taking place for a very long time and it has had a very disastrous effect on ecosystems, especially on our water towers. You will realise that in the recent past, we have had very ...
