  • 13 Oct 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I rise to support the Motion in its amended version. You must be aware that, at one point, I brought a Question that the Report on this Committee is going to cure. To begin with, KEBS is a very important institution in this country. For every product that is imported and consumed by Kenyans, we must have credible firms that are going to inspect those products so that the Kenyan people can be safe all the time. When a Report of PIC like this comes up with evidence that some companies did not have technological and ... view
  • 4 Mar 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I rise to ask Question No.032/2020 on the Order Paper to the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Coordination of National Government: (i) What were the main grounds for the suspension of Police Constable Rebecca Moraa (Service Number 117166) from service in April 2018? (ii) Why is the officer yet to be reinstated back to the Service? (iii) When will the officer be reinstated back to the Service and paid her salary and allowance arrears? view
  • 26 Feb 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I rise to ask this Question to the Cabinet Secretary for Industry, Trade and Cooperatives: (i) Could the Cabinet Secretary explain the process followed in the recruitment and appointment of the current Managing Director of the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS)? (ii) Could the Cabinet Secretary explain the basis on which experienced technical managers were transferred by the Managing Director of KEBS in December 2019 without regard to their professional and technical qualifications and subsequent approval by the National Standards Council? (iii) What is the progress made so far with regard to the implementation of the ... view
  • 15 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker for giving me an opportunity to support the Joint Committee Report. As a Member of the Departmental Committee on Environment and Natural Resources, I visited the said settlement scheme and this is an area where people have settled for 40-50 years. There is no space for what other Members are referring to as an opportunity for land grabbers. The community has settled in the entire area the Government is proposing to degazette for settlement purposes. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposes only. Acertified version of this Report can be obtained ... view
  • 15 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: The Chepyuk Settlement Scheme is a rich agricultural area which feeds the larger part of Bungoma County and western region. When we regularise this land, the people of Mt. Elgon and the settlers in Chepyuk Settlement Scheme will accelerate agricultural activities and do profitable farming. This will help their children and the Government of Kenya to achieve the Big Four Agenda through food security. In that line, this country is full of areas like the Chepyuk Settlement Scheme, which were given out by the first President of Kenya and have not been regularised up to date. They are causes of ... view
  • 15 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, Hon. Sankok is putting words in my mouth. I said to prevent rogue cabinet secretaries from misusing power in future. I am not saying there is a rogue cabinet secretary. If there is, he exists in his mind. That is why he is taking the attention of this House to an issue which people are running away from or maybe he knows a rogue cabinet secretary. view
  • 15 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I think Hon. Oyoo was trying to engage me since it has been long since we spoke yet we are neighbours back home. But he should have used a different forum which I will discuss with him later. I was saying that the Government must come up with a serious national plan of trying to map out areas that have already been given out as settlement schemes so that these issues can be sorted out once and for all. Otherwise, we will be dealing with petitions day-in day-out as the Departmental Committee on Environmental and Natural Resources when ... view
