Thank you, Mr. Speaker Sir. I take this opportunity to congratulate every Senator who has supported this process and the Committee that was mandated to deal with these proposals. We have been able to get all the good ideas from Members of Parliament. Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for giving me the opportunity to address myself to the Election Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2017. I rise to support the proposed amendments for several reasons. First, the amendment, as appearing in the first Bill, is in respect to amending Section 2 of that original Act, so that we have a new definition of the term ‘chairperson.’ If the proposed amendment passes through, the ‘chairperson’ will mean the chairperson of the Commission appointed in accordance with Article 250 (2) of the Constitution or the vice-chairperson or a member of the Commission when discharging the functions of ...
