  • 2 Dec 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady. I also want to support the proposal of setting the maximum cost because it is important to note that administration amounts sometimes go beyond. When we set a maximum, it will help in controlling the administration expenses. Thank you. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. • 2 Dec 2015 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady, I support this amendment. This will help bring sanity among the board members. The amendment talks about the removal of a board member. The additional sub-clause states that the National Assembly Committee shall, upon receiving a petition under Sub-section (2), consider the petition and may recommend that the member be suspended pending the outcome of the complaint. There is a cure in place. It is not a question of you being removed just because you are active in politics. This cure has been added in Sub-clause (4). view

  • 20 Aug 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. Let me also contribute to this amendment. I want to support it. The Committee’s amendment is good. It is detailing the procedures that are to be used, the criterion that has to be used when selecting commissions, interviewing, recommending, appointing and vetting. Further, it has also stated what will happen in case the National Assembly rejects them. It is indicated in this amendment. It has also taken care of the two-third gender rule which is the constitutional requirement when appointing commissioners. So, I want to support this amendment. view

  • 10 Jun 2015 in National Assembly: This is one way of enabling the youths to participate in leadership and decision making. Allowing representation from both public and private universities from student leaders in a rotational way is good because we will be enabling students to participate in decision making and also help to guide the Board on the needy issues of their colleagues. They are representing student leaders in those respective universities. view
  • 10 Jun 2015 in National Assembly: There is also the issue of minors. Many of our students finish Form Four when they are hardly 17 years old. Even if they are 18 years old, getting an identification card (ID) in this country has become a problem. It is a nightmare now. You will find that students have applied for IDs when they were in school but two years down the line, they have not got their IDs. So, the objective of this Bill is to enable those students without the IDs to access the loans like the rest through their parents and then later on when ... view
