30 Oct 2013 in National Assembly:
Thank you, hon. Deputy Speaker. I remember this issue was addressed two weeks ago and I informed the House that, indeed, we got some response from the Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communication and Technology. As a Committee, we were not satisfied and we requested them to get us more information on the same. The answer they gave us was like all the former employees of Telkom Kenya Limited had been paid, but we wanted more information. We are still waiting for the Cabinet Secretary to give us more information, because the answer we received was not sufficient. We should be ...

Thank you, hon. Speaker. I have a Statement to a request made by hon. David Ouma Ochieng, the Member for Parliament for Ugenya Constituency. Apparently, it appears like hon. Ochieng is not in the House. Maybe, I will have to wait until he comes. I suspect that he is campaigning in Nyanza.

Hon. Deputy Speaker, indeed, the Ministry of Information, Communication and Technology responded and gave us the Statement and after going through it as a Committee, we realised that the information that we were given was not sufficient. Indeed, on Monday, we had a meeting with the Cabinet Secretary in charge of ICT and he promised to give us more information by the end of this week. So, I believe that by Tuesday next week, we should share the information that we have with the Member of Parliament. In a nutshell, the answer given by the Ministry was that all the ...

Hon. Speaker, while I would like to thank the hon. Member for giving the Statement, he has said that it will take up to the middle of October for KEMSA to distribute drugs throughout the country. The implication is that quite a number of health facilities in our constituencies will be lacking drugs for another one-and-a-half months. My request to the Government, through hon. Pukose, is whether they could consider devolving KEMSA to other regions of the country, so that we do not have to travel all the way to the headquarters to get drugs.

Hon. Speaker, Sir, let me assure this House that we are not endangered species. On that issue of Telkom Kenya Limited, I want to give an assurance that we shall give a report by next week. For your information, even the report on the refinery, we were almost finalizing it. The only issue which was remaining was on Essar agreement and we do agree with what hon. A.B. Duale has said. I want to believe that within those days, we shall be able to give the report on KPRL and by next week, we should be able to give the ...
