Mr. Speaker, Sir, I wish to thank the Assistant Minister for answering this Question. He has said that the Ministry has allocated Kshs129,500,000 for the remaining portion of the road. Is he sure that this amount will be sufficient for the remaining 20 kilometres?

Mr. Speaker, Sir, what measures has the Ministry put in place to ensure that only authorized vehicles use that road? We have vehicles carrying sand from Iten using that road. The weight of the trucks is over 20 tonnes. If you drive through that road, you will realise that some sections of the road, which were repaired last time, are worn out. What measures have you put in place to address the situation?

Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, as much as I would like to thank the Assistant Minister for saying that he is aware of that programme, he has said that the Ministry is planning to purchase 135 motorbikes for chiefs. The Assistant Minister should be aware that we have 210 constituencies with over 2,000 chiefs. These 135 motorbikes will just go to one district. What programme does the Ministry have to ensure that over 2,000 chiefs are given motorbikes?

Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the Assistant Minister has given a list of 15 parastatals that have defaulted and the Kenya Power and Lighting Company is one of them. If you will remember, last year, the KPLC declared a profit of about Kshs3 billion. How come they have defaulted? If they made profits, why have they defaulted?

Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. I rise to support the extension for this Committee. As said by the Chairman, within the next three months, I believe they should be able to visit all the constituencies and regions that they are yet to visit including Elgeyo Marakwet County where we have a number of integrated IDPs and GDPs. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, as you are aware, there are a number of IDPs who have been resettled by the Government. I want to tell this Committee that within the three months they should be able to visit Rongai and Trans Nzoia ...

Mr. Speaker, Sir, I wish to thank the Assistant Minister for the good work they are doing through the REA and the KPLC. However, for quite some time, there has been a challenge in provision of transformers. What measures has the Assistant Minister put in place to ensure that transformers are provided to schools, public health centres and public trading centres? We find that as much as the main line is constructed within time, it takes over six months for the transformers to be installed.

Mr. Speaker, Sir, if I heard the Minister very well, she did say that one of the big dams in Kitui has stalled due to political issues. Being a Minister and a politician, I would like to know when these political issues will be sorted out so that this project can continue.
