  • 7 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: I have done well and what is remaining now is: We want a police station permanently erected there with enough staff. We also want serious peace meetings to take place. I am happy to announce that we have already arranged one with all the neighbouring MPs from Monday. I will take the opportunity to invite all of them to come and exonerate themselves because some of them have been named as inciters, I have no evidence but the people are dropping names. view
  • 23 Oct 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for the giving me this opportunity. First, I want to thank the Mover of this Motion because she has brought a Motion which is very dear to my heart and very relevant to the mandate I am currently having on behalf of my electorate. • 23 Oct 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I come from Muhoroni Constituency which was hived from the old Nyando Constituency. The area is known in the country to be predominately flood-hit areas. We have perennial floods that come second to Budalangi floods. I think Muhoroni and Nyando constituencies combined are affected more than Budalangi. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, this is a Motion we must support and ensure that it is passed and not only passed, but we must ensure that it is implemented to the letter. I am saying so because we have had policy frameworks in this country and there was a ... view
  • 23 Oct 2013 in National Assembly: Government that promised to say and deliver. My efforts to have them fixed have been blocked by lack of finances. This House must take its mandate very seriously. Why should we have perennial floods when we have a Government with a fully fledged Ministry of Devolution and Planning? They are supposed to plan and know what we have and how to prioritize it. Why do we not deal with this flood issue once and for all? I have had the benefit of travelling to Cairo. I travelled all the way to Alexandria. As you try to travel to the countryside, ... view
  • 23 Oct 2013 in National Assembly: Scheme. We need the Government to put its priorities right and make sure that the Ahero Pilot Rice Irrigation Scheme has the facilities that are needed for it. I want to second this Motion and assure the Mover that I will support it to the hilt and ensure that it is passed and we will follow its implementation. Thank you very much. view
  • 23 Oct 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. I rise to support this Motion with two reasons. Last week, I sought a Statement in this House and subsequent to the response that I was awaiting, a local vernacular radio station called me to their station to update them on how far we have gone to contain the spiraling insecurity which is rampant in my constituency. That is between the border of Muhoroni and Tinderet. view
  • 23 Oct 2013 in National Assembly: When I woke up yesterday, my first assignment was to go to the radio station and the first question the presenter asked me was whether I am happy with the high wage bill that the country currently pays. He also asked me whether I was sure that with that kind The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. • 23 Oct 2013 in National Assembly: of expenditure and other related issues, this country will embark on serious development, more so on road construction, expansion of school infrastructure et cetera . This was off the cuff. I quickly reminded him that as far as I am concerned, the wage bill will be controlled and leaders must lead from the front. view
  • 23 Oct 2013 in National Assembly: The Government must start by downsizing the staff and bring sanity by reining in on errant officers who misuse Government resources. The Government should bring controls so that people are paid according to their output. view
  • 23 Oct 2013 in National Assembly: I also reminded him that I believe that the Government has not made enough effort to collect taxes. I gave him an instance where I told my constituents that we have sugar millers. I have a factory that is run by a receiver manager. It was a quasi Government factory before it went under. The current receivers are a bit---- The factory can mill a maximum of two tonnes per day but if you look at its tax returns, it is higher than a neighbouring company which is run by businessmen which does three tonnes. When I left that place ... view
