  • 3 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Speaker, I wish to present this Petition on behalf of the residents of Ugunja Constituency, which I represent, on a matter that is of great concern to them. We, the undersigned residents of Ugunja, Siaya County within the Republic of Kenya, draw the attention of the House to the following: view
  • 3 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Aware that the Kisumu-Busia Highway is part of the international road network that links Kenya to Uganda and the Great Lakes Region, and that this road facilitates transport of enormous amount of goods and a large number of people on a daily basis; that whereas the Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA) is charged with the responsibility of construction and maintenance of national highways that include the Kisumu-Busia Road; that whereas KENHA has failed to put in place adequate safety measures to protect the lives of passengers, pedestrians and the general public along the stretch between Madeya and Rangala Trading Centre ... view
  • 3 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: We hereby confirm that efforts in terms of oral representations to the authorities and all concerned parties have been made to have this matter addressed, but so far no action has been taken. Therefore, your humble petitioners pray that KENHA, through the Cabinet Secretary for Transport and Infrastructure, be compelled to, without further delay, erect speed bumps and establish rumble strips between Madeya and Rangala trading centres in Ugunja Constituency to prevent more deaths from road accidents. view

  • 27 Jun 2013 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I just want to get a clarification from the Leader of Majority Party. Is it now official Government policy that future deportations will by-pass the court process as has been the case with the Chinedu saga? Two, the Leader of Majority has stated that Chinedu and his associates have lived in Kenya for more than 17 years and that they were known drug barons. It is not possible for a foreigner to live in Kenya as a drug baron for all that time if he does not have protectors at the highest possible levels of the Government. ... view

  • 27 Jun 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, Sir, I have an interest in this matter because Mr. Chinedu’s former wife is my constituent. Ms. Akinyi is my constituency in Ugunja. I want to be assured that in the process of covering up for Chinedu’s mis-deeds, no arbitrary action will be taken against my constituent, who is Akinyi and her property. Finally, I want to understand the Government’s intention in so far as protecting Chinedu’s lawfully acquired property wherever it is in Kenya is concerned, so that in future, we are not accused of deporting people in order to grab their property as it is common ... view
  • 25 Jun 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Deputy Speaker. I wish to second this Motion. I also want to echo what my able Chair has just said that really if we can continue with this spirit of bipartisanism this House can go to great heights in terms of achieving its objectives. Hon. Deputy Speaker, I say that because many a time people see us as basically Members who are hell bent on opposing for the sake of opposing. We do not do so. We oppose where it is necessary to do so and when there is a reason to support, we support. Therefore, for ... view
  • 25 Jun 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Speaker, there is no doubt whatsoever that these three Kenyans are eminently qualified for the positions to which they have been nominated. Mr. view
  • 25 Jun 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Speaker. This is a defining moment in the short history for this Parliament. Unless we are careful as a House, we stand the risk of being judged very harshly by history. Before I proceed to second the amendment of the Motion--- view
