  • 9 Apr 2019 in Senate: I am sure this can be done. However, leaving these factories as public entities has not worked. Experiments have been undertaken in many ways, including putting in more money and the likes, but it has not worked. Therefore, I hope that we will see this initiative through the taskforce come to fruition so that the perennial problems that we have in those sectors are brought to an end. Finally, Madam Temporary Speaker, I hope that what the President said will not turn out to be just rhetoric. This is because there are areas where it was more rhetoric than action, ... view
  • 9 Apr 2019 in Senate: Madam Temporary Speaker, I hope that in the other sectors, for example, food and nutrition, housing and manufacturing, we will see some movement that will persuade us that this initiative will help the country deal with its economic problems and bring prosperity to the nation. Madam Temporary Speaker, with those remarks, I beg to second. view

  • 19 Mar 2019 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I did not want to interrupt the distinguished Senator, who is my good friend. However, did you hear him say that he does not want to refer me to “other things” that I am aware of? The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor, Senate. view
  • 19 Mar 2019 in Senate: Those other things are associated with drug trafficking and many of those things. He is a lawmaker; if he can bring the appropriate legislation, we can help. However, can he be clear so that I am not associated with “those other things” that he is not telling us? view
  • 19 Mar 2019 in Senate: Madam Temporary Speaker, I rise to support this Motion of Adjournment and state that the mixed messages from the Government are not confidence building. It is a matter of fact and hearing from the Governor and the County Government of Turkana that people are dying of famine and hunger there. It is a pity to hear some Cabinet Secretary (CS) saying that it is not from hunger, but it is some strange disease, which is killing people. I thought that for a CS to say that it is a strange disease was totally out of place. The CS should be ... view
  • 19 Mar 2019 in Senate: entire crescent are productive areas where with proper planning and farming, it would be able to compensate the vagaries of weather and drought that exists in Turkana. Just like in Turkana in this modern age and time, we look up to Turkana to make Kenya rich and great again. Through the oil resources, people of Turkana will compensate us by having these natural resources of oil. People are fighting for this oil. I think this Senate has done its job in ensuring that in the division of resources that emanates from extractive industries, that the local people must get a ... view
  • 14 Mar 2019 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I always arrive at the right time. This is a straightforward Motion. Therefore, I beg to second. view
  • 13 Mar 2019 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I want to support the Statement by Sen. Cherargei, the distinguished Senator for Nandi County. I rise to ask the Vice Chairperson of the Committee to have an open mind. This is because he has already taken a position--- view
  • 13 Mar 2019 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, this was one of the most efficient reactions that I have seen in this Chamber on a matter which is very weighty. If you hear the comments made by the Member of the Committee, Senior Counsel, Sen. Omogeni, there is a genuine grievance and concern in the Statement that has been requested. I hope that the Committee on Health will take this matter seriously. This matter should not just be discussed in a meeting or over a cup of tea; this is a matter that demands a proper answer from the Committee. view
