  • 27 Feb 2019 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I meant the words that I used. I did not mean any other words other than the words I used. If in the reckoning of the Senate Majority Leader those words meant the Deputy President, then I cannot help him. Do you know that in Kenya today, there are presidents and vice presidents? I did not say the Vice President of the Republic of Kenya. However, in relation to the President, I said the President of the Republic of Kenya. I was very clear about his powers and his authority. When I used the word “vice ... view

If the evidence points to any other Kenyan, then the consequences of the law should follow. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the point that I was trying to make and, in fact, that is why I do not like when people overreact. There was a time when, in the House you mentioned the word “President,” everybody would be on their feet. I hope that we are not getting back to that kind of situation. • 27 Feb 2019 in Senate: I will not take all the time because I know everybody will want to contribute, but let me finish by saying that, in the light of this Report we should see a difference; that everything will happen on time, farmers will get their fertilizers and get their seeds and when they want to sell their produce, they will be able to get it to the market. If it is the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB), let them pay the farmers in time. The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. • 27 Feb 2019 in Senate: The suggestion that is coming out in the Report and which I think is useful, is that, the NCPB should be devolved. We should have units based at the county level that will deal with the problems of farmers more effectively than when it is centralized as it is for now. With those remarks, I support. view
  • 26 Feb 2019 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, this was one of the key projects of the Jubilee Government; the provision of laptops to every primary school student. Unfortunately, without mincing words, it has collapsed just like many others. The Senate Majority Leader will confirm that the other key component of the Jubilee agenda which has collapsed is building stadia in every county. Therefore, in trying to reshape this programme, which the NASA team had proposed and that is what they are trying to do now, the Jubilee Government is seeing the light of day, eight years later. In responding to this Statement, can the ... view

  • 21 Feb 2019 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I was taken aback by the distinguished Senator for Bomet County on what he said about the handshake. Now, it is not a long time ago when I said in this Senate that if they are not careful, they will come to me. If I begin to enumerate the people who have come to me from that side, they are not only numerous but substantial. This includes those that have seen me in private. However, more importantly, is the question of being judged by the record of this House which is very important. When we brought the ... view
