5 Jul 2016 in Senate:
Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I am coming at the tail end. It is tragic that in Kenya, death brings us together but the fight for freedom never brings us together. It is better to remember that the fight for the living is as important as fighting for the dead. Unfortunately, even if we come together in death, we are not always coming out fairly. I am sorry about the death of my colleague who is a lawyer. This is a tragic affair. When Mr. Jacob Juma died, he was just a statistic and is gone. He died in similar circumstances ...

5 Jul 2016 in Senate:
Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, it has become evident that police kill in two ways. In the earlier years, there was a mafia kind of killing; killing first Mr. Tom Mboya, Mr. Pio Gama Pinto and so on. There is a new pattern like perfect crime, for The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposes only. 5 Jul 2016 in Senate:
Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I thank the leadership of both sides inside and outside Parliament for including my name in this Committee. I hope that this Committee will be able to accomplish its mandate and come up with a report that is acceptable to all Kenyans. I do not want to say a section; I will say a report that is acceptable to all Kenyans. The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposes only. 27 Apr 2016 in Senate:
On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. While I totally agree with what my brother, the Senator from Nyeri County is saying, I am wondering whether the forum is correct. We know what is going on around this matter. They are a bit complicated and it is even more complicated because we have commissioners in this Senate in that Commission. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of that Commission comes from the Senate. This whining should stop for a little while until we examine this matter internally, before being seen to be weak-kneed and whining. I do not think it ...

27 Apr 2016 in Senate:
Mr. Speaker, Sir, thank you for welcoming these two delegations from Vihiga and Siaya counties. I need not say more because once the Speaker has given a word of welcome, that is on behalf of the entire Senate. The two delegations came as guests of the Implementation Committee of the Senate. These are the implementation committees from Vihiga and Siaya counties. Let me confirm to the Senate that in terms of performance, these two committees have been rated No.1 and 2 nationally. 19 Apr 2016 in Senate:
Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, sorry because what I may say is a bit of repetition for I came in late. Please, bear with me. First of all, in terms of what I have seen here as money paid as legal fees, I am a little bit surprised that so much of this money could be paid as legal fees. I think the courts, even in elections petitions and a lot of legal fees that were expended by the governors were in regard to election petitions---. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, you know that the High Court and other superior courts generally ...

19 Apr 2016 in Senate:
Precisely. The amount of money that the counties we believe are marginalized are paying to the CoG, does not meet their description. I, therefore, commend Members who are here and are not going to Meru. I am happy with the king of Meru for taking a stand. I am in solidarity with him for not going to Meru.

13 Apr 2016 in Senate:
On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. It is not legalese, but to inform you of the fact that we are building intolerance because in South Africa, if somebody is making a presentation, the loud speakers are never put off until you finish that presentation. But in our Parliament, when there is a feeling that you are saying something that the Speaker or the Clerks are not happy about, the microphone is turned off. It never even happened in the parliaments that I knew. So, once you begin stopping people from making presentational speeches, then the reaction is to ...

30 Mar 2016 in Senate:
Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, may I remind the Chair about Standing Orders. It is not about words, but the conduct. Neither the person of the President nor the Speaker’s conduct can be commented upon in the House without a substantive Motion. So, the Speaker’s is the conduct, but the President, is the personal conduct. Therefore, what the President said in Israel is not a matter of personal conduct. In any case, it will be cannibalising the Constitution if the highest legislative body in the The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposes only.
