We need to know that we are carrying out a very important duty. We stopped debate in this House at one time when one of us was arrested because there was an important debate on that day that we wanted all of us to participate in. view

• 11 May 2021 in Senate: I would like to emphasize that the Joint Committee of Parliament recommended that the Constitution of Kenya (Amendment) Bill, 2020 be passed as it is. The Joint Committee made observations which became part of the debate. I hope that after passing this Bill, we have to live with it as part of our history and contribution to this country. The courts will try to determine what we meant and what we wanted to do through this enactment. view

I beg you that when you are dealing with a matter of such weight, we treat it with decorum so that anybody looking at the proceedings in this House knows we are taking this matter seriously. This governor who may eventually be tried by the Senate and those who accused him would want to feel that he is being given a fair chance.
