Chairlady, here, we are talking about SIM card registration. We wanted to make it illegal for someone to have an unregistered SIM card. The penalty is there. That is why we came up with this amendment. view

Here, we are saying that we need every person to have their full names, their ID card number, their date of birth, their gender, whether male or female and their physical and postal addresses clearly put, so that every telecommunication operator can see and know the person who is using the SIM card, where he comes from and all that kind of detail. This will really help. view

When we go out of the country and, maybe, you need a SIM card, you have to produce your passport so that you can get that number. That is your identity document for that particular purpose. So, it can be any document. view
