30 Apr 2013 in National Assembly:
Thank you very much, hon. Speaker. Let me also take this opportunity on my own behalf, my family and the people that I represent in this House, Kigumo Constituency, to send my heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and people of Makueni County for the death of Mutula Kilonzo. The late Senator Mutula Kilonzo was a unique person. I had an opportunity to be with him in the Tenth Parliament. I also had the opportunity to be with him in the Cabinet. In fact, he was my predecessor in the Ministry of Nairobi Metropolitan. He single-handedly started that Ministry. It ...

17 Apr 2013 in National Assembly:
Thank you very much Hon. Speaker, Sir. I rise to support this Motion as amended. For a start, I want to congratulate you for being elected the Speaker of the National Assembly. Looking at the list of hon. Members who are here in this list, the first thing that strikes me is that, 15 of the 21 hon. Members are actually new Members of this House. They were not there in the last Parliament. Therefore, these hon. Members will be able to take care of the interests of the new Members who are coming in. I think as the Selection ...

28 Mar 2013 in National Assembly:
Thank you, Mr. Clerk. As much as I want to go the hon. Olago’s way, I want to bring to the attention of the Members that this House has 349 Members. If a Member takes an average of five minutes to be sworn in, that will translate to about 29 hours of swearing in and the Clerk cannot do all the 29 hours alone. That will be even before we start the process of electing the Speaker. I would rather go the Olago way and let the Clerk make the decision and then we can proceed from there.

10 Jan 2013 in National Assembly:
Mr. Speaker, Sir, I rise to support this Motion for Adjournment. I recollect five years ago when the Tenth Parliament was ushered in; it was ushered in, in a very acrimonious manner. The acrimony started from the word go when we were electing you as the Speaker of this House. But I am happy today because we are ending the Tenth Parliament in a very peaceful manner. Mr. Speaker, Sir, there are so many things that have happened over the last five years. I would like to first of all, start by thanking the President of this country, the Prime ...
