  • 20 Feb 2020 in National Assembly: of a TBK to be managing and regulating the tea industry. Our friends yesterday alluded to the fact that the tea industry has been left to the mercies of many dodgy players within. The issue of research as raised by my colleague here from Ainamoi has been left out. It is unfunded. They lack funds. We are not progressing as an industry because we are not looking for best practices out there so that we can embrace them to ensure tea farmers get maximum returns for their produce. The Tea Research Foundation based in my county of Kericho has been ... view

  • 19 Feb 2020 in National Assembly: It looks like it is the Member for Budalangi. Is it in order for Hon. Junet to mention Hon. Kuria adversely in his absence? He is not here to defend himself. It is only proper that he is mentioned when he is here to defend himself. view
  • 10 Feb 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. On behalf of my family and the great people of Bureti, I pass my condolences to the family of the former President Moi and Kenyans at large. As Bureti residents, we remember President Moi with a lot of respect. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposes only. Acertified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor. view
  • 10 Feb 2020 in National Assembly: President Moi started the Nyayo wards in 1983 at the current Kericho, Kapkatet sub-county hospital in Bureti. It is a Level 5 hospital. I was happy with that work. As a pan-African, Moi was respected across the board. We remember him for cultivating friendship… view
  • 19 Sep 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. First and foremost, the death of that girl was unfortunate. Personally, I attended the funeral of the said girl. I was present when she was buried. What we are witnessing here is something unique. There are not many girls who commit suicide. This is a unique case. I have heard what the Chairperson has said on the Report from the TSC. It is a sad affair of events to push blame to the parents of a child who has committed suicide. When I was at the funeral, there were several allegations that the TSC was trying ... view
  • 7 Aug 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady. I also oppose this amendment. You are taking away the powers of the Director-general to do anything after the census is completed. It is like you want the Director-General to act at the close of the census when his job comes to an end. If you look at the amendment, it says “upon request by the board...” It also means that the Director-General cannot, even personally, request for ratification or whatever dissemination, cancellation or revision of the census results. What my colleague, Hon. (Dr.) Otiende Amollo, has said is true. You want to bring ... view

  • 7 Aug 2019 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady, I still stand my ground. The Director-General is well versed with what transpires in the census. You cannot purport to shut him down completely. If at the close of the census you want to shift those powers to the Cabinet… If you look at that clause, there are checks and balances with approval of the board. It will not be the Director-General on his own volition. There must be an approval from the board that has to be sought. On that, I oppose. view
