My Ministry has taken the issue of the destruction of the flora and fauna in Lake Victoria by an algae invasion with the seriousness that it deserves with a view to protecting the marine life in the lake. Currently, My Ministry is implementing various programmes within the Lake Basin which are aimed at reducing the flow of silt and pollutants resulting from agricultural and industrial activities in the upper catchment areas. view

Other interventions include the implementation of various projects such as the Lake Victoria Environment Management Project (LVEMP). (a) I am aware that Microhouse.Net Limited entered into a contract with the National Environment Management Authority for the installation and commissioning of a financial management system in December, 2005 at contractual sum of Kshs2,900,000, VAT inclusive. I wish to clarify that to date Microhouse.Net Limited has been paid a total of Kshs1,885,000 vide cheque No.00081 of payment Voucher No.0003 dated 17th January, 2006 and cheque No.00092 of payment Voucher No.0306 dated 11th May, 2006 of Kshs725,000 for the services already rendered.
