  • 18 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Speaker, this is a very frustrating issue. Therefore, the Question asked by the Member is very relevant. There is a problem with the Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Education. He is trying to relate the number of teachers in schools viz-à-viz the number of schools that should be available. He seems to be moderating the number of schools in the country with the number of teachers who are employed by the TSC. The truth of the matter is that majority of the schools have teachers employed by their Boards of Management (BoMs) and the parents themselves. Therefore, ... view
  • 18 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. Given the weight of these issues and the fact that the Chairperson is not here, and I will have to consult him, I ask you to give us seven days. If Tuesday fits within the seven days’ notice the better. I know if we give him a notice that is shorter than seven days, he will have a chance to wriggle out. So if you can give us seven days from now, I will tell the Chairperson to call the Cabinet Secretary. view

  • 11 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker, for giving me this chance. I want to weigh in on one thing about the Kora National Park. During my trips around the country when I was doing other jobs, I arrived at that particular area of Tana River and witnessed the conflict that existed between wildlife and human beings. So, I support the Petition as presented by the Member. In that area, even working for teachers and other civil servants is impossible. Often you get reports that one day, students wake up and find leopards in classrooms and they have to fight them. Another ... view
  • 11 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: In the same area, it is almost impossible when it comes to events like exam supervision and administration because of the human-wildlife conflict that has been let loosely without control. So, I want to support because I have been there. It is an area where schools are run even under trees despite the fact that you find the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology speaking very strongly. Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I support. view
  • 11 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, thank you. Despite the other connotation got into this Petition, I want to say that I support it. We, the people of Western Kenya and especially around Luanda to Emuhaya towards the other side, really suffered. I am telling you we have been losing people in the tune of 36 per week or even more. This was exacerbated by the meeting that was in Kisumu. Was it Madaraka Day celebrations or whatever it was? We have suffered because of the Delta variant. Originally, our areas had been fairly safe but we were finally attacked by the Delta variant. ... view

  • 11 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I want to thank you for the direction you are giving. We have seen severally, good requests for Statements made here. I remember vividly one that I was so passionate about by Hon. Malulu Injendi, but it could not be pursued further. We are now changing by asking Questions. However, I also want to inform you, Hon. Speaker, that even when we ask Questions, that Cabinet Secretary does not answer them. Last week, this document was read here. Remember, I had complained about the same scenario the other time. This time we were given a paper ... view
