  • 18 Sep 2019 in National Assembly: looking forward to. On that, we shall be supporting it strongly. I also urge Members to support it because it is very important for all of us. I loved the Mover as he talked about protecting the accounting profession. The accounting profession unless regulated, can be misused. Who is this accountant who will work especially when it comes to Government money and give a report? It can be a source of serious corruption unless it is regulated. Therefore, I support the Chair’s views that he will be bringing an amendment, so that we do not remove the regulation on the ... view

  • 18 Sep 2019 in National Assembly: is one of them. There is an attempt by the Government to make unga very expensive yet it is a very basic good for Kenyans. Everybody works for unga first. So, an imagination that you would move unga, which is ugali in this matter for Kenyans listening to me, to a tax ratio… view
  • 18 Sep 2019 in National Assembly: Hiyo . The maize flour. Moving it to a tax bracket where it will be higher and the Government is making extra money from the flour, would be very wrong. We should be fighting to move to a level, like other developed nations though we may not be having the capacities, where when you go to any hotel, you are given ugali for free, then you can buy other things. Back to the Coast, being an educationist and a teacher, it is an area where, and Kilifi in particular, education is very low. That has been partly attributed to the Disco Matangas and such like things. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposes only. • 17 Sep 2019 in National Assembly: Recently, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) advertised positions for promotions. I was there two weeks ago. That is an area where the level of education is so low that no one currently qualifies to apply to become deputy principal or principal of school. We asked the Commission to come up with some form of affirmative action to accommodate them. As the Member fully supports Disco Matanga, I kindly, without agitation, ask him to reconsider what that means to his society and education of the child. view

  • 17 Sep 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I think the presentation by the Chair of Budget and Appropriations Committee was so good. It woke up my mind on the many reasons why some Kenyans sometimes demean Parliament. Partly, why we are demeaned is because we look like we lack the capacity to oversee the monies which remain with the national Government, other Government agencies and departments. That is why they fight us. This discourse is very good for us and because of time limits, I will deal with one aspect. Could we as Parliament in this discussion look at how the money is ... view
