Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I directly support this Motion. I want to remind this House that in 2015, 28 teachers died in the north eastern parts of Kenya. Out of the 28 teachers, 14 were from the former Western Province, five of them were from Vihiga County and two were from Emuhaya, which I represent. We buried them. For us, our cash crop is our teachers. When we give you our coffee, who are the teachers and you throw it into water, that cannot be accepted. Therefore, I support this Motion that we get short-term solutions to have ...

Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I am a Member of the Departmental Committee on Labour and Social Welfare and we have noted with great concern the matter that has been raised by the Hon. Member. As a Committee, under the chairmanship of Hon. Wario, we are already putting in place certain things that will facilitate the operation of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF). The monies from the fund will be dispersed well and on time. We also noticed that concerning the monies that should go to our people in various parts there lacks regulation. We have been able to ...

Moving forward, this is something I believe the Committee, under the chairmanship of Hon. Wario has the capacity to tackle. We shall report back to this House our progress.

On a point of order, Hon. Speaker. For me, this is quite regrettable because this week, the Leader of the Majority Party has been telling us in this House that the Chairpersons are not available and so we cannot move forward.

Can this Hon. Member, please, allow me to speak so that the Speaker may get what I am saying? At this rate, the House will not operationalise. I think it is the business of the Leader of the Majority Party to make sure that this House operates. I am also aware that many times, when your cohort is called for kamukunjis, nobody misses. At one point, I sat in a Committee where we even tried to change one of the chairs and you came intentionally to make sure that we have that chair there. Now these chairs are not doing ...

Before you shut me out, I want to say that, maybe, we should be given space to adjourn and discuss such a business because there is a lot of business to be discussed. Thank you, Hon. Speaker.

Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker for giving me a chance to contribute to this Motion on the Approval of the Appointment of Members to the Parliamentary Pensions Management Committee which is very important. First, before I make my contribution, let me thank the people of Emuhaya for having elected me to come and serve them. Emuhaya is a constituency that has a good history in this House. It gave you Speaker Marende and later on brother Ottichilo who also rose to become one of the best MPs in terms of management of the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF). Now, ...

Having said that, let me condole with the families of both M’Mbijjiwe and the Governor for Nyeri for what happened yesterday. I come from a background where I deal with people’s pensions, salaries and wages and I find this Motion being important to this House not just now but before and in future. I want to believe that Hon. Dan Wanyama, Hon. Rehema Dida and Hon. Andrew Mwadime are people who will do this work diligently. I do not know them per se but I believe they have been chosen because of the fact that they can serve well in ...

one term qualifies to get this pension. It is not easy for one to come here but it is very easy to leave here. When you leave, it is not easy for you to get another job outside there because people always rank you at a certain level. That includes you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. If you leave this House and get out there, nobody will want to touch you because they believe that you reached the apex of employment in this country. Therefore, this House should in future look into the prospect of giving pension to members who even served ...
