• 14 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. My point of order is that the mood in the House is quite expectant. When our senior, Hon. Kimunya, was contributing about the Tax Laws (Amendment) Bill, you could see the attention of the House was not in the mood of concentration. I wish to plead with the Chair that we suspend this discussion and focus on the Budget. view

It is also important to bring to the notice of the House that I am a Member of the Departmental Committee on Labour and Social Welfare. When we were making this Budget, we looked at the money. When we appeared before the BAC, we advised them that this money should be given to certain Vote Heads that could be devolved down to the constituency level. We have a new curriculum and we have 100 per cent transition from primary school to secondary school, meaning that we shall have our children in secondary schools not having teachers because we have the 100 per cent transition from primary school to secondary school. They have a lot of capacity for co-operatives, but they have not been harnessed so that they can form co-operatives that will actually help them and engineer this economy moving forward.
