  • 16 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I rise to support this Motion. The Marriage Bill has been on the rise--- There has been a very serious need for this particular Bill to be passed. I support the reduction of the publication period so that we deal with it once and for all. You remember that this Bill was not dealt with in the last Parliament. view
  • 11 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Speaker, Sir. I also rise to pay tribute to the fieriest politician from our region. The late Chelagat Mutai inspired very many people. view
  • 11 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: From history, we learn that she was actually the first Kalenjin woman to become a Member of Parliament. That is why even in the last Parliament, we managed to have the highest number of women Members of Parliament from that particular area. I think they were inspired by this lady. It is only unfortunate that she died in such a way. It was very disheartening when we saw her when she was sick. This is a wakeup call to all of us that we need to look at the people we think must have contributed greatly to the development of ... view
  • 11 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: This lady among others fought for democracy, the truth, against land grabbing and very many evils in the society. Therefore, it is fair to remember them. We should not only remember them but we should be thinking about them. We should build monuments in their honor so that we can remember them. We should also have--- view
  • 2 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I also rise to support the Motion, especially given that it seeks to address the problems that Kenyans encounter whenever they are faced with disasters like floods. view
  • 2 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Disasters do not just happen on our roads. While I was a student in the Nyanza region, I realised--- view
  • 2 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you once again, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. view
  • 2 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: I support the Motion mainly because of the effects of floods, and especially the devastation that they cause. Just like the Mover has said, floods that occur in many parts of this country normally cause a lot of damage. I was just describing a situation at one time, when studying in the Nyanza region. We used to experience a lot of flooding which would, sometimes, even threaten to carry away people. The damage that is normally caused by floods includes loss of lives and property. When flood water sweeps across, it, sometimes, carries away buildings and other properties. Floods sweep ... view
  • 2 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: All that happens due to several issues; of course, we know the natural phenomena involved. It normally rains in the whole country. However, there are some areas which are prone to flooding whenever it rains. Those areas include the North eastern part of Kenya; Narok County and Budalangi, among others. view
  • 2 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I think the major cause of those floods in some areas like Narok is poor drainage. If the national Government and the county governments can put in their budgets a certain amount which can be used to divert the water before it bursts the banks, I think we will be saving a lot of damage that is caused by floods. view
