23 Nov 2022 in National Assembly:
Hon. Temporary Speaker, there are individuals who went to court. I know it is their right to do so, but I think we need to pass some laws. That when one is going to court on a matter of public importance, one should not just file the case alone. They must accompany it with about a million signatures from across the country. How do you challenge a public fund that touches on the lives of Kenyans and you are just an individual, running a Non- Governmental Organization (NGO), receiving funding from unknown donors, people whom you want to please and ...

23 Nov 2022 in National Assembly:
Hon. Temporary Speaker, I agree with Hon. Junet Mohamed that this House has lamented too much. I am just trying to imagine if the constituency I represented from 2007 to 2022, and which Caroli Omondi is now representing, did not get CDF funds from 2007 to date, what kind of infrastructure would we have in both our primary and secondary schools? These are my suggestions. The time limit of 90 days for this Committee is too much. If you ask me, this Committee must burn the midnight oil during this Christmas break and do this within 30 days. It is ...

23 Nov 2022 in National Assembly:
Finally, there are other funds. I am happy that we are now going to work together with the Senate. I know many people thought that the National Assembly did not want the Senate Oversight Fund, but what we wanted was clarity on how it is going to be disbursed. That is what we are going to discuss with our counterparts in the Senate and come up with a system where we do not expose public funds to misuse and wastage. Hon. Temporary Speaker, I said finally, but allow me to say this. Members, when we talk like we disburse these ...

17 Nov 2022 in National Assembly:
Thank you, Hon Speaker for giving me this opportunity to comment on the Petition that has been brought to this House through the Member of Parliament for Seme, Hon. Nyikal. We all remember the unfortunate events of December 2007 to early 2008. That is something that we need to close as a chapter in the history of this country. However, it will not be right to do so when there are Kenyans out there who have been discriminated against and have not received compensation like others. I am not saying that people who got affected in other areas got enough ...

17 Nov 2022 in National Assembly:
coming week. I just wanted to draw your attention to a Motion that I filed procedurally regarding issues pertaining the electoral process in this country. That Motion was supposed to set up an ad hoc committee. The main reason is that we have had elections challenged at the Supreme Court from 2013 to date. There are some recommendations which have come from the Supreme Court which this House is supposed to implement. However, over the years, that has not happened. So, I wanted to request that we set up a bipartisan committee.

17 Nov 2022 in National Assembly:
Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I was just concluding. I was very attentive to hear if my Motion would be brought for even the notice to be given. It will help this House to implement some of the recommendations that have come from the Supreme Court, regarding the improvement of our electoral process. I had recommended forming a bipartisan ad hoc committee to look at those issues. I am concerned because I have not received any explanations regarding that Motion.
