26 Oct 2022 in National Assembly:
Thank you, Hon. Temporary Speaker. I also stand to support the Motion on renumeration of our village elders and their recognition, by my good friend Hon. Mutuse. When it comes to recognition of these village elders... First of all, we know that most of the time they have acted as voluntary public servants. They are also the people at the tail end of the grassroot level thus able to reach out to our people. The reason I support this Motion is that as Africans, we know there is something called the black tax. It is something that most people who ...

25 Oct 2022 in National Assembly:
Thank you, Hon Speaker. Really, it was not my intention to interrupt Hon. Owen Baya when seconding the Motion. There is a procedure of moving and seconding Motions in this House. We should not entertain a situation where the Mover and the Seconder are moving the Motion and they are like opposing it.

25 Oct 2022 in National Assembly:
If the Committee has agreed or made a decision on rejecting a nominee, how does it come about that the Mover and the Seconder are talking like they faulting their own Report? It is confusing this House. Leave it to us to know what to do with it as we feel like. I am sure many of us feel there is no way we are going to reject one member out of the 24. We are going to approve them all. However, you are the same people who have rejected some nominees. So, do not give excuses. Do not look ...

12 Oct 2022 in National Assembly:
Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. With all due respect, there is a procedure that we did not follow. There is a procedure we missed as a House. Hon. Omboko Milemba requested for the Mover to be called upon to reply. The House should have first agreed with that. We thought that when you rose to put the Question, you were doing so for the House to give authority to shorten the debate for the Mover to reply. That did not happen, and the Mover did not reply to the Motion. We could not proceed to vote on the Motion before ...

12 Oct 2022 in National Assembly:
The Leader of the Majority Party has just ambushed me. I least expected this. Let me take this opportunity to second the Motion. I know that it is not an easy job. I have been here before. I served as the Leader of the Minority Party in the last Parliament. I know how difficult it is to really balance-off the interests of Members. The Committee on Selection has a tough job. However, it will be helped by the Whip of the Majority Party, Whip of the Minority Party, the Leader of the Majority Party and the Leader of the Minority ...

12 Oct 2022 in National Assembly:
Committee on Transport and Infrastructure, the Departmental Committee on Energy and the Departmental Committee on Finance and National Planning. My advice to this Committee is to ensure that no Member sits in more than one of these committees. If you are in the PAC, forego the Budget and Appropriations Budget, the Departmental Committee on Finance and National Planning, the Departmental Committee on Transport and Infrastructure and the Departmental Committee on Energy. Do not select a Member to be a member of both PAC and the Budget and Appropriations. No one can give you that. Honestly, if that list comes to ...

12 Oct 2022 in National Assembly:
Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. Let me first take this opportunity to join my fellow Members in congratulating you and the Speaker on your elections. I stand here as a new Member. I would like to take this opportunity to give my maiden speech as I contribute to the Motion at hand. Before you is Hon. Irene Nyakerario Mayaka. My original home is in Bogichora Ward, West Mugirango County. The ODM home nominated me to this House. The young people in our party call me Renee, and I think it is a very melodious name. I rise on the Floor ...

12 Oct 2022 in National Assembly:
commitment of our political father, the Rtd. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga, to raise the profile of young women in this country, I would still be in our village in Nyamira County. Today I want the world to witness the goodness of this statesman whom we, in the ODM family, fondly refer to as Baba . I am a proud product of the daughters of Raila’s lobby group. The group was formed in 2016 and was adopted by our party to enable young women to be mentored into political leadership. I, therefore, take this opportunity to sincerely thank my political father ...
