11 Aug 2021 in National Assembly:
Hon. Speaker, thank you. Let me also support the petitioner. What should concern us, as a country, is why we are so generous in allowing our space to other people even when it is very clear that there are certain countries which should be marked red. Like when this variant erupted in India, this country should have put in place stringent measures to deter or stop the possibility of people travelling from India and bringing this dangerous variant to our country. Listening to my sister Hon. Passaris, you realise that those who are positive were being put on one side ...

10 Aug 2021 in National Assembly:
Thank you, Hon. Speaker. This issue that has been brought by the Minority Whip is very important. It is engaging the national debate. Already, there is a serious national debate on this matter. There are a few things that I want to bring for your consideration. First, it is clear and evident that the IEBC has the Kenyan fashion of waiting until the last minute to do what ought to have been done way before. We did our elections in 2017 and the IEBC knew very well that the last day that Parliament should have finalised with these regulations should ...

cautious. Actually, some of the beneficiaries would be me. I would want a cap to be put, but it must be done within the law. Thank you, Hon. Speaker.

4 Aug 2021 in National Assembly:
Thank you, Hon. Speaker for giving me this opportunity. I support the appeal by Hon. Keter. I agree with all the Members on what they have said. The only thing I want to emphasize to the NG-CDF Chair is that for those of us who have been dealing with cases upcountry or in our constituencies, we have a crisis because of the change in the school calendar. We have a lot of people who are having crises because you get the bursary and then there is an overlap with another term. Therefore, it means that we must deal in an ...

4 Aug 2021 in National Assembly:
Budget has passed. The Budget must be passed way ahead of time and money must be disbursed way ahead of time. I also want to incite Members. If that is not done, we must also hold other people hostage in terms of the work that is being done here. We cannot be passing other people’s work when ours is being sabotaged. So, we want to put the Chairman on notice that, if we do not do that by the end of this month, his office should be calling us to give proposals and by September, all the money for the ...

8 Jul 2021 in National Assembly:
Straightforward, as the Leader of the Majority Party has said. I do not think there is anything much to add. We are going on recess and we just want to make things simple when we are away. This is so that issues that can easily be dealt with administratively, through your office, can be dealt with. When we come back, they will have moved forward. I second.

8 Jul 2021 in National Assembly:
Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman, maybe I am a bit confused. I am personally so much against this opening of space for a lot of litigation on matters succession where we now want to bring in those who have been cohabiting. If you want to marry, marry when you are alive and have as many wives as you can. This idea of looking for shortcuts, we are creating space for people to go to court. Your dependants are suffering. The courts will take forever just because you have created some space in law for cohabitation. People cohabite whether it is for ...

8 Jul 2021 in National Assembly:
Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker now I am happy. I have looked at the Bill where we are now and I am happy because we have gone back to Marriage Act. Even if we kill this Bill, now, there is still the Marriage Act. So, now that we have recognised spouse as defined in the Marriage Act, we pass. I want to respond to Hon. Savula. You do not need to go to court and the media to announce your children. No one deserves congratulations for accepting his children in the media and courts. Accept your children without being asked. We ...

8 Jul 2021 in National Assembly:
Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, first, allow me to say that what Hon. Wafula Wamunyinyi has done is exactly what a representative of the people should do. He deserves congratulations and accolades for bringing a Bill to address issues that we have just been talking about. I know I was in the Tenth Parliament which did away with the Kenya Sugar Board and lumped it together under one management which has failed us. So, I thank Hon. Wamunyinyi for thinking it wise to bring an amendment to the Act to reintroduce the Kenya Sugar Board which will now help address issues ...
