  • 24 Mar 2011 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. The Assistant Minister has alluded to the fact that this is a private investment. It is on record that the Government said it sold this hotel. When a Government sells an hotel, is it a private investment or a public investment? view
  • 23 Mar 2011 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. The hon. Member for Rangwe has made a very serious allegation, which I feel, should not go unchallenged. He said that he has never seen tourists in that area, and that may be misconstrued to mean that tourists do not go to Ruma National Park, which we share with him, and the bulk of which is in Gwassi. Is the fact that hon. Ogindo has not seen tourists in his area a matter of national concern? Could he withdraw the serious allegation that tourists do not go to Ruma National Park? view
  • 23 Mar 2011 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. Let me also first thank the Vice-President and Minister for Home Affairs for attempting to answer this Question. Just like my colleagues have expressed concern about the answer given--- view
  • 23 Mar 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, that is correct. He has talked about rains in mid-February, when we were crying that this country was dry. Could I get to understand where it rained in mid-February? view
  • 23 Mar 2011 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. It is grossly disorderly for a Minister to refuse to answer a Question. What constitutes refusal to answer a Question? When a Question directed to your Ministry is asked and you are not in the House; then immediately after it is concluded, you walk in, if you do not give an explanation on where you were, in my understanding and interpretation, that is refusal to answer a Question. So, could the two Ministers who have just walked in explain to this House why they were not here when the Questions directed ... view
  • 23 Mar 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I want to find out the from the Prime Minister, given that Kenya factors in quite a bit of revenue coming from customs duties; with the move to the integration of the East African Community, we are likely to lose the revenue from custom duties. What is the Government doing to ensure that we lower interest on custom duties? view
  • 23 Mar 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, the Prime Minister answered the question raised by hon. Kombo on the weakening of the Kenya Shilling. But I expected him to tell us what the Central Bank of Kenya says is causing this trend. Without that, the CBK cannot address this issue. Could he go a step further to explain to this country, why the Kenyan Shilling is weakening, and whether it is linked to what is happening in the Arab World, that Kenyans are bringing money that had been stashed out there back to the country and causing this scenario to develop? view
  • 23 Mar 2011 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I am very much aware that this ruling was made earlier - actually sometime last year - on the rights of the hon. Member for Kuria to participate in the proceedings of this House. Could we have a time- line, because it is a bit unfair--- view
  • 2 Mar 2011 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. While I appreciate the many words that the Minister is trying to put across to justify the inaction on the part of the Government to issue identity cards to deserving Kenyans, the Minister should have realized that we are approaching elections which will be illegitimate if deserving Kenyans are not registered because that is a constitutional requirement. Is it in order for the Minister to give us the details, and yet we are interested in knowing exactly when Kenyans will get their identity cards? We do not want to know what ... view
  • 2 Mar 2011 in National Assembly: So, we want to help this Minister by referring this matter to the relevant Departmental Committee so that it can deal with it expeditiously within two weeks so that we can--- view
