  • 19 Jun 2008 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. Is the hon. Member in order to anticipate corruption in the implementation of such a major Budget Item, and when we are so serious about road construction? I have just heard the hon. Member say that, out of the Kshs65 billion set aside for roads, over Kshs35 billion will surely go to corruption! Is he in order? view
  • 18 Jun 2008 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Environment and Mineral Resources:- (a) whether he is aware that Lake Naivasha is on the verge of extinction as a result of excessive illegal farming around the lake, causing soil erosion at an alarming rate; and, (b) what measures the Government is taking to urgently rehabilitate the lake and protect it from extinction. view
  • 18 Jun 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I have not had the opportunity to look at the written reply, but even without having it, it is just a long lecture on theories on how they can manage the environment. view
  • 18 Jun 2008 in National Assembly: It is non-specific! I have had the opportunity to look at the Printed Estimates, both Development and Recurrent and there is no provision for anything on Lake Naivasha per se . Mr. Speaker, Sir, as I speak, and as the Assistant Minister comes to glorify NEMA here, all flower farms are emptying raw chemicals into that same lake. Could he confirm whether he is not ready to answer my Question, so that I can give him the benefit to defer it, for a better answer on what he is doing to urgently rehabilitate and protect the lake from extinction? • 18 Jun 2008 in National Assembly: Yes, Mr. Speaker, Sir. view
  • 18 Jun 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I would like the Question to be deferred to next week. view
  • 18 Jun 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, in supporting this Motion, I first of all would like to say that I was disappointed by the strategy the Minister for Finance adopted in sorting out poverty, particularly in the rural areas. It is a fact that those Kenyans who are privileged in northern and western Kenya, parts of Eastern Province and most of the central Kenya, particularly around the squatter areas and areas accupied by farm workers know that those people live in absolute poverty. This Budget fell short of addressing that. There are no specific measures or anything that can be traced ... view
  • 14 May 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I have just heard the Assistant Minister say that managing monkeys is a serious problem. What can they manage? They cannot manage elephants and lions! It is a common feeling in the KWS, and the Assistant Minister can confirm that, that animals are more important than human beings. No where on the planet earth where we are relegated to lesser mortals than monkeys! Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. view
  • 13 May 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I beg to ask the Minister for Lands the following Question by Private Notice. (a) Is the Minister aware that 43 families living in Manera Farm of Delamere Estate are about to be evicted? (b) Is the Minister further aware that there are persons who, without a lawful claim of right of title, are perpetrating acts prejudicial to the beneficial proprietary rights of the said families? (c) What measures has the Government taken to protect families who have lived in the farm since 1910? view
  • 13 May 2008 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. I am rather disturbed by the casual manner in which the Minister has taken this Question. view
