• 12 Apr 2011 in National Assembly: In moving this Bill, I am cognizant to the fact that the nurses have suffered from 1991 when the then Minister, in his wisdom, allowed them to undertake private practice. We have seen the situation with the FGM Bill today. Today, they run a council which is more or less like a public baraza with over 22 members and they rarely meet. The net effect of this has been that they do not meet and the registration of nurses is in backlog to an extent that we currently have under 50 per cent of the numbers that would be members. ... view

This Bill will, among other things, demonstrate and show that they need stiffer penalties, recognize professionalism and appreciate the training of nurses. • 31 Mar 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Chairman, I beg to move:- THAT, Clause 4 be amended in subclause (1) by— (a) inserting the words “who shall be a registered veterinary surgeon under this Act” immediately after the word “Services” in paragraph (c); (b) deleting the word “one” in paragraph (g) and substituting therefor the word “three”; (c) inserting the following new paragraph immediately after paragraph (i)— “(j) one veterinary surgeon or veterinary para-professional nominated by the Director of the Kenya Wildlife Services and appointed by the Minister to represent the wildlife sector;” (d) renumbering paragraph (j) as paragraph (k). view
