Wafula Wamunyinyi, for bringing this progressive Bill. The agriculture sector is the mainstay of the Kenyan economy. The sugar industry is a major contributor to this country’s economy. Therefore, we need to look at how we can revive the sugar industry. The situation in the sugar industry is extremely worrying. Before you start the production process, you need to move the sugarcane from the farm to the factory. Therefore, there is no need to tax the transportation of sugarcane from the farms to the factories. Indeed, we need to look at an elaborate process of increasing our competitiveness.
