  • 6 Oct 2021 in National Assembly: No. I am not supporting. It will not have the effect we want to have. It will have the outcome that Hon. (Dr.) Eseli has said. Why should somebody who is putting in 49 per cent be interested with that kind of control? view
  • 5 Oct 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I also stand to join my colleagues in appreciating the role of teachers in our society. Teachers are affecters in a life-long way. I have values I acquired from Standard One, Two and Three. In Standard One and Two, I got beatings for missing school on the second day and I never missed school again thereafter. I still appreciate those teachers. They have gone to the Lord. It has been a long while. Fast forward to today, I think the management of the education sector in this country needs a review. The way teachers get treated ... view

  • 29 Sep 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Chairlady. Just a little bit on that amendment by the Hon. Leader of the Minority Party. I was just wondering that we are protecting the institution from being sued in the event of any losses that lenders may have incurred. However, I am just wondering: Supposing the institution goes rogue, as many of our institutions do? By going rogue, I mean suppose they loot the institution to a point where it cannot perform its functions effectively so that you are causing losses among institutions? How do we get our counter protection as well? This is because ... view

  • 28 Sep 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Chairman. I have great sympathy for Hon. Ichung’wah’s line of thinking, but I think the Leader of the Majority Party has a point on this occasion that we need to listen to. There are risks of interpretation. • 23 Sep 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I have a few remarks to make. I agree with the conclusion of the Committee that these Draft Regulations are irregular and, therefore, they are not an instrument we can use in the next general elections. Therefore, the Draft Regulations should be reviewed. Hon. Deputy Speaker, capping expenditure in elections is important, but the IEBC should do so procedurally. It is extremely important. Apart from the fact that capping of election expenditure can exclude some people in the communities who may be able to contribute effectively to leadership because they cannot afford it, it also ... view

  • 23 Sep 2021 in National Assembly: I am guided, Hon. Deputy Speaker. The import of the decision we are making is that we should think seriously whether we are going to proceed forever without regulations. I hope we will find a way in which they can be done legally and brought back. view
