  • 15 Oct 2020 in National Assembly: I wish to ask Question No.289/2020 to the Cabinet Secretary for Transport, Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development. (i) When will the construction and refurbishment works on the Voi-Taveta One- Metre Gauge Railway (MGR) Line commence, considering that the Government is keen on revamping railway transport in the country? (ii) Could the Cabinet Secretary provide plans on refurbishment of the said railway line considering its importance in boosting transport network and improving the economy of the region? view
  • 17 Sep 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I am interested in the last part of the Chairman’s statement. The Eastern Zone of Tsavo National Park is in my constituency. For the Kenya Wildlife Service to ensure that some of these things, like fires, do not happen, they should also involve the local communities for the benefit of animals. That way, we shall all be winners. There will be no loser. At the moment, the local communities are not benefitting and there is a lot of acrimony. Thank you. view
  • 28 Jul 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I am not satisfied with the answer. I expected an answer on 100 per cent transition from primary to secondary schools. All pupils are supposed to transit from primary to secondary schools and this means there is inadequate infrastructure in secondary schools to meet this need. This has not been answered. In fact, when they talk about ASALs being taken care of, if you look at Taita Taveta and Tana River counties they received the least amounts from 2015. I also expected an answer on how much has been disbursed to Voi Constituency. Thank you, Hon. ... view

  • 30 Jun 2020 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, pursuant to the provisions of Standing Order No.44(2)(c), I wish to request for a Statement from the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Education and Research regarding distribution of funds under the infrastructure funds programme in secondary schools. Hon. Speaker, the Ministry of Education launched infrastructure programme with the objective of supporting development of physical and instrumental facilities in secondary schools in the country. Regrettably, the allocation and distribution of these funds from the programme to schools has not been undertaken in a predictable, fair and equitable manner. This inequality has resulted in poor quality education since most ... view

  • 4 Mar 2020 in National Assembly: First and foremost, the public service is supposed to afford equal opportunities to all Kenyans of all tribes or communities in this country. But what we see today is a few communities benefiting at the expense of others. Some of us from marginalised communities like Taita Taveta do not see our people being appointed to any positions in the country. We do not see our people appointed to Cabinet Secretary positions in the country despite the fact that, since Independence, Taita Taveta people have always had a Minister in the Government. But the Jubilee Government has not appointed our people ... view
  • 4 Mar 2020 in National Assembly: We want to see a situation like what happens in the armed forces where they advertise yearly and go to the ground to employ, at least, from every constituency. If this happens, we will see all communities represented in the Public Service Commission as it is supposed to be. Today, even the fight for the presidency is as a result of the people who want to benefit as a tribe and not as a country and thus, the country does not win as one. Personally, if everything is done well, employment is done across the board and the economy recovers, ... view
