  • 4 Mar 2020 in National Assembly: So, I hope the BBI is going to address this issue so that all of us can become part and parcel of this country and not a few. With that, we will heal this country completely. view
  • 4 Mar 2020 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I beg to support. view
  • 10 Feb 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I also want to join other Kenyans on my own behalf, my family and the people of Voi in Taita Taveta County in conveying my heartfelt condolences to the family of the late President Moi. I will remember the President for two things: one, when he took power he was the only person who ordered that all employers must add their employees’ salaries by 10 per cent. Two, he cared for the environment throughout his life. Thank you, Hon. Speaker. view
  • 26 Nov 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for this opportunity. I want to agree with my colleagues who have spoken before me. This is a Motion of national importance. We have lost people in West Pokot. On my behalf and on behalf of my people of Voi, I say pole to the people. I want to condole with the families of the affected people. This should not be politicised. People have lost lives. We should not be sitting here talking about politics when people were buried while others have not even been seen. Some of them cannot even be located. Some ... view
  • 26 Nov 2019 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I hear he went there as an individual. I do not know how. I was expecting some KDF aircraft to be there distributing food to the people. People are still hungry. They do not have food or water. If he made it, for sure, how come some people could not reach there? view
  • 26 Nov 2019 in National Assembly: The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposes only. Acertified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor. view
  • 26 Nov 2019 in National Assembly: This is a national issue. It is not only in West Pokot. Maybe the magnitude was much higher in West Pokot than in other areas. In my county of Taita Taveta, homes have been destroyed especially in hilly areas like Wundanyi Constituency. The roads are impassable now. These are the issues we should be talking about rather than looking at politics. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I beg to support. view
  • 16 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I rise to ask the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Coordination of National Government the following Question: (i) Could the Cabinet Secretary explain why in June 2019, the Government withdrew hardship allowances for Assistant County Commissioners, Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs in Mbololo and Ngolia locations in Tausa Division, Voi Sub-County, Taita Taveta County? (ii) When will the said hardship allowances be reinstated? Thank you, Hon. Speaker: view
  • 2 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to contribute to this Motion. On the outset, I want to convey my condolences to the family of Kighenda and Amanda for losing their lives in such a cruel way. We cannot talk of 50 years of Independence, yet we do not have divers in the ferry. Instead, we have bouncers who are always throwing people around and cannot help in such disasters. We hear that the Cabinet Secretary has appointed the Permanent Secretary to spearhead the rescue efforts in this tragedy. How do you appoint somebody to do ... view
  • 2 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: ensure the safety of the people, but here we see people being appointed three days after the disaster. We also know that the Government spent Kshs78 million to buy CCTV cameras to ensure that they see what is going on yet up to date, no CCTV cameras have been fixed in the Likoni ferry. It is only trial and error every time we cross the ferry. What happens, for example, if the ferry was hit by a ship going to dock at the port? If we cannot retrieve bodies three days after the incident, then there is something seriously wrong ... view
