  • 6 Oct 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me this opportunity to support the ratification of this air transport agreement between Kenya and the US. We are aware that for a long time, trade between Kenya and the US has been on the lower side. Most of the finances that has flown from the US to Kenya has either been through income from the Kenyans who live and work in the US or grants and loans from there. With the opening of this air transport, it is obvious that trade between our country Kenya and the US is going to ... view
  • 18 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to also contribute to this very important Bill. The amendment is very important to the people of Kenya. A depositor takes his money to a bank for safe custody and for future investment. A depositor expects that any time he goes back to the bank to look for his money, it should be available and not to be told that the bank has closed down hence he loses his deposit. So, it is the responsibility of the management of the bank to ensure that deposits are well taken care ... view

  • 11 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: I start by congratulating Hon. Mutua for coming up with this amendment which I believe is timely. The amendment talks about timing. It does not talk about who and who are going to be nominated. It is talking about the timing of submission of the nomination lists by the parties. So, all we need to do is to look at the merits and demerits of the timing. I support this because submission of lists after the elections will enable the parties to identify the rightful people who can be nominated by the parties—the party supporters and those who have seriously ... view
  • 30 Jun 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. As much as I would consider 30 years to be a short time, there is a provision for renegotiation and further request for extension. So, if we fix it at 50 years, it would be bad. But now that there is a provision for asking for extension of the period, I think we should leave it at 30 years and leave room for people concerned to ask for extension. Thank you. view

  • 4 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me an opportunity to contribute to this Bill. First, I want to state that I support the proposed amendment to the Act. My main concern lies on the control of the services provided by these organisations. The situation is such that if we are not careful, diverting funds from one person to the other, because of the huge enterprise whose control might not be 100 per cent, is very expensive. Therefore, the separation of the two services is timely because the activities that sometimes arise can create theft of not only private ... view
