  • 21 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I stand here to seek a Ministerial Statement from the Ministry of Water and Irrigation on the agreements between Kenya and Ethiopia on the construction of Gibe III Dam on the Omo River; the amount of fresh water flowing from River Omo into Lake Turkana per day; amount of water projected to flow into Lake Turkana after the completion of Gibe III; the number of people, animal and plant life on the Kenyan side who would possibly be affected by the building of the dam which is a trans-boundary river on Lake Turkana; and lastly, whether ... view
  • 21 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. I had asked when my earlier Statement which I had asked on 26th August, 2010 would be answered by the Ministry of State for Defence. view

  • 14 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the issue of floods is not new to our country. It happens every year and we keep losing livestock and lives and waterborne diseases have become too much. This is the Ministry of State for Special Programmes. Since we have lost millions of lives, do you have any structured, comprehensive policy and legislation that will ensure this country will not keep on repeating the same? We are becoming a nation of afterthoughts and we react to issues. Do you have such a plan and if not, are you prepared to start one very soon so that ... view
  • 14 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the Assistant Minister, while answering Dr. Monda’s question on community policing, said that they are trying to fight crime using community policing. Could the Assistant Minister state in this House today that community policing works in our country? view
  • 1 Sep 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, it is submitted that it is not only the sewerage companies that discharge waste into the lake; even flower companies do so. My question to the Assistant Minister is this: Every flower company wants to make profits. The more dangerous pesticides they use, the higher the yield from their flower farms. Does the Ministry have any regulatory body that regulates the amount of pesticides that are used by these companies that later on discharge the harmful pesticides into the lake? view
  • 1 Sep 2010 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. The answers are here. There is nothing new that the Assistant Minister will bring. It is in black and white. There are lots of discrepancies and segregation. The answers are here. We do not want him to bring any more answers, because his written answer is adequate. It is not insufficient. So, can you, please, rule that the Committee on Equal Opportunity, of which I am the Vice-Chairman, tackles this issue? I do not think it is the first time this is happening. view
  • 31 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. Mr. Letimalo just clearly said that women have aborted; he clearly asked the Minister to send a team. Is it in order for the Minister to now direct the issue to Mr. Letimalo when that clearly falls within his mandate? view
