  • 11 Feb 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I tend to concur with my counterpart, the Member for North Horr. Saku is 2,000 square kilometres and Laisamis is 2,600 square kilometres. Transportation in a 2,000 square-kilometres area for the month of January is almost Kshs500 million. I want to go on record that Saku cannot possibly even cover Kshs100,000 for that. I want the Minister to investigate thoroughly these AIEs that are given for transportation, specifically for Saku. view
  • 11 Feb 2009 in National Assembly: I would like to tell the Minister that Laisamis is getting very little food. What is she doing to help? view
  • 11 Feb 2009 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Environment and Mineral Resources:- view
  • 11 Feb 2009 in National Assembly: (a) what the Ministry's response to the recent 4th Assesment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change on the possibility of global average temparatures and sea levels rising and an increasing number of heat waves as well as severe tropical storms bringing about more floods is; and, view

  • 11 Feb 2009 in National Assembly: 4882 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES February 11, 2009 view
  • 11 Feb 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I am glad the Assistant Minister has accepted that global warming is real and here with us to stay. All of us have seen the effects of global warming. Countries like India have been monitoring global warming and the recession of the glaciers for the last six decades; from 1935. view
  • 11 Feb 2009 in National Assembly: Could the Assistant Minister give specific surveys that have been undertaken by the geological and meterological departments, that actually ascertain the actual rates at which our catchment areas are being affected by global warming? How much ice have we lost in Mt. Kenya for the last two years due to global warming? What is the Ministry doing about it? view
  • 11 Feb 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I like the Assistant Minister's passion on the issue of forests. In other countries, they have the capacity to monitor fine dust pollution, or particles of less than 2.5 micron in size. That means that these are particles that the naked eye cannot see. In our country today, we have so many vehicle smoke emissions, which continue to inject harzadous materials into the air. We even have thousands of tuk tuks . We are breathing bad air in this country. What is the Ministry doing to make sure that Kenyans know the status of pollution in ... view
  • 11 Feb 2009 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. I simply asked the Minister to say something about air pollution and not forests. I am asking him again, what is the Government doing to make sure that the pollution status of our country is known? view
